Ill try and make this as simple as possible so much so that even you can understand. Firstly you can argue plot and nobody can deny it. The characters have no will of their own, kishi is who controls them so for the sake of the story to continue kishi would create scenarios. If tobi had succeeded there wouldnt be a story at all.

Secondly its a manga fact that controlling a tailed beast requires alot of control. Tobi was controlling the fox with his visible sharigan. He cannot control both the fox and minato simultaneously with the same sharingan.

Thirdly tobi's even though tobi's mask doesnt cover his visible sharigan. Not a lot of people know he had a sharigan. Dediora for example who is a sharingan hater after what itachi did to him, didnt know that tobi had the sharingan or else he would want to fight him.

When tobi stalled team kakashi during their retrieval for sasuke, all of them came close to him in proximity and yet none of them noticed his sharingan. Only kakashi did because he also had the sharingan.
1. You don’t have to make it as simple as you can because I know how to understand (lol). While it’s true that Kishi is liable for the characters’ will, doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll create different scenarios without prior purpose for each & every characters he had created. My point here is, Plot no Jutsu isn’t an excuse or too vague for an answer. Tobi was defeated & Minato sacrificed his life isn’t plot but part of the story.

2. This is the part where I think you need to clarify. Tobi is an adept genjutsu user. As we’ve witnessed, he can even control Yagura (a perfect jinchuriki) in a matter of time, & so as the kyubi; a feat that only he & Uchiha Madara had accomplished so far. Since he has the talent, putting the strongest shinobi “Hokage” in the village through genjutsu is a better alternative than facing him in a 1v1 battle. Tobi had all the time in the world to cast genjutsu on Minato when he took Naruto as a hostage or before they fight, & after the fight.
• If Tobi cast genjutsu on Minato when he took baby Naruto or right before the fight, is the better option. This move will not only increase the rate of his chance to succeed in his mission but will also lessen the upcoming conflicts. Tobi viewed Minato as a threat that he planned all along to separate him from Kushina. This move shall not be necessary if he put him under genjutsu. As simple as this, he cast genjutsu on him, and then sucked him through his so-called dimension or whatsoever. No more savior, no more hokage, no more threat!
• After the fight – whilst no one denies that controlling a bijiu requires loads of chakra, still doesn’t prove anything that they can no longer cast further genjutsu on the latter. Besides Tobi stated that his chakra is unique or special as compared to the others. This statement was simply supported by the fact that he can control 5 bijius at the same time. Therefore, after Minato released the kyubi from Tobi’s control, he can still caught Minato through powerful genjutsu. This will prevent him from teleporting back to the village & stop the 9-tailed fox attack. My point here is, Tobi’s obvious advantage was his genjutsu, yet he failed to use it against his opponent.

3. Thirdly, Minato believed that he confronted Uchiha Madara. Thus, he anticipated the power of sharingan. Furthermore, I thought it was a common knowledge that only those blessed with powerful eyes (specifically MS) can control the 9-tailed fox. Minato was the hidden leaf's 4th Hokage, it was more rational to assume that he was well-informed regarding this matter. Plus, Minato’s conclusion that only Uchiha Madara was capable of doing all such things signified that he was very knowledgeable in the ninja world. & the fact that he confidently faced Tobi (whom he assumed was Madara) in a 1v1 battle showed he wasn’t even intimidated to fight a sharingan user.

4. I kindly doubt it’s only due to Kakashi’s sharingan that made him notice Tobi’s eye, because Sasuke failed to perceive it the very 1st time they met. Besides, it’s still uncertain if Deidara knew that Tobi possessed the sharingan eye or not. By following your logic, if Deidara wants to fight any ninja who obtained sharingan eye, he should at least challenged Kakashi over & over again.
