Naruto wasn't trying to fight Itachi, how could you even infer such a thing. The exchange in dialogue made that evident. He did not blitz Itachi

The added speed and power in kcm seem to be passive meaning that no matter if naruto is "trying" or not that they happen and theres really no evidence to say otherwise. Naruto had to try to fight itachi because kabuto was MAKING itachi fight in order to capture naruto, he didnt have a choice. And if you actually look at the blows i was talking about you'll see that the speed and force of them werent ones that someone would try to land if they werent trying to fight
