When minato went up vs tobi he thought he was madara for a moment and did not seem at all concerned that he was going to fight him.
(assumption)Now im sure minato no's more then enough about the 1st and madara to understand their abilities and find ways to counter them.
Also how can madara avoid getting sealed from a distance like minato did vs kurama when he cant see the death god. Well he cant and that alone is proof that minato can win (sure at the cost of his life) but people always consider the 3rd vs oro as the 3rds win because he succeeded in what he was trying to do

It's not about strength, no one is claiming minato is stronger than madara. It's about match up's and abilities.
The point being made here, is that minato can use his top-teir speed, and f.t.g to get a seal in. It wont be easy, but the reason why it's being said that he stands a chance, is the possibility, that he might find a way to seal him with his skill set.
