Minato didn't ruin Kakashi's and Gaara's Plan

People are saying that Minato unnecessarily threw the kunai in front of Madara thus killing the chance that Kakashi and Gaara got to Kamui Obito. But that isn't true.

What would have happened if Minato didn't interfere?
Madara would have pulled Obito towards him quickly and might have killed Kakashi or Gaara in the process.

But Minato interfered in order to divert Madara's attention to himself thus letting Kakashi and Gaara accomplish their intentions.

Also, Minato knew that Senjutsu is Juubi Jinchuuriki's weakness and hence he attacked Madara with a Senjutsu Rasengan as a chance to hit Madara.
But Madara ruined their plans by kicking Minato and his arm towards Kakashi and Gaara.
You can see how strong and fast the kick was, which even destroyed the sand wall. Imagine what would be the case if Minato didn't interfered.(would be a lot different from what I answered above)
