Just as I've stated in a different thread:

Alright guys. Here's the deal with the flipping back and forth between the Naruhina and Narusaku panel-time every few chapters. Kishi knows that he has to keep the pairing tards on their toes. Otherwise, if he settles the dispute, he'll lose a large chunk of the fandom either way. Some of us do indeed wish that he'd make up his mind, but take into consideration the consequences that Kishi would have to face. He's just going to continue to ship-tease/troll us either direction until the completion of the manga, and even then he may leave the question of who Naruto ends up with unanswered.
Don't take offense if you think I called you a "pairing-tard." I include myself in that category as well, seeing as I prefer to see Naruhina someday. However, I look at things realistically and understand that my preference isn't necessarily going to come to fruition, regardless of what I wish.
Lastly, why is there so much cathexis associated with fictional characters? I understand that it is an author's goal to influence a sense of attachment between the reader and his/her characters. However, I'd recommend detaching one's self just a bit. I'm not saying one should abandon all feelings for the characters or one's preferred pairings, but such gratuitous investment of emotional energy in something not directly associated with RL probably doesn't promote one's well-being.
