Okay so heres part 5: Minato rescues Kushina. I wont call this a complete fanfiction, since most of it happened in the anime, though the conversation between Minato and Kushina, the "i didnt want to lose you" part was filler, so maybe it deserves to be called fanfiction. I dunno. I worked hard to do justice to their "how we fell in love" story, it didnt quite come out the way I wanted it to but its still good. Please read till the end, then reply and tell me what you think.

Part 5
Minato sat atop the third hokage’s mountain side image, overlooking the village. As a child, he’d overheard rumors that the wills of the first and second hokage, and the still living lord Hiruzen, resided in these giant stone copies. But even then he knew that was false. The wills of the hokage reside ibn the village, and survive along with it.
He’d never had much interest in being hokage before he met Kushina Uzumaki. He only desired freedom, to live in peace with his ninja-in-arms and the villagers. By night, he dreamed of his four older sisters, of his parents. Of the cramped, isolated lifestyle of bodyguards, curfews, and monitored rooms he had lived before coming here. Mikoto was his only friend in those days, a playmate his parents had selected out of many. Since she was so beautiful, Mother had attempted to arrange a marriage between them, only to have Father deny Mikoto, being of a “commoner” background.
He’d always thought he grow up, spoiled and over protected by his family, adored by Mikoto, and no one else.
But now he was able to choose his own fate, protect who was important to him, and laugh from the bottom of his heart. He could even choose his own life partner.
Was it wrong to be happy, when everyone else was dead? Kushina seemed heartbroken and lonely over her parents’ death. But she was so strong, in body and in spirit, always fighting and speaking up, determined to be seen and heard and welcomed, even with everyone looking at her the way they did.
Why did everyone hate her so? She was an orphan, very talented, and beautiful and wonderful…
“Minato!”
The alarm in Mikoto’s voice had him to his feet and facing her in an instant.
“What is it?!” He ran to her, noticing she had Kizashi Haruno and Fuji by her side.
The three skid to a sloppy stop, which would have been funny (they were ninjas) if not for the emergency. All three were covered in sweat, dirt, and grass stains. There were leaves in their hair and clothes, and they were so out of breath they could have been having heart attacks.
“What is it?!” He questioned, turning from one to the other, wondering what he should do. Call a medic? Give them some water? They looked like they were going to throw up, so he took a step back.
“Kushina!” She wailed, making Minato flinch. “Kushina’s gone!”
He straightened up, widened, then narrowed his eyes. He’d never been so angry, so worried in his life.
“How?” He asked, shaking. “Where is she?”
“We don’t know!” Mikoto cried, waterfalls of tears pouring down her face. “I…! I went to her house, to invite her to sleep over again… But when I got there! When I got there she was gone! And her house was a mess, and there were some muddy footsteps about the same size as her own… It looked like she was trying to get away from something! Someone…!”
He clenched his fists and pushed past them, taking off in a run.
“Minato!” Fuji called. “There’s nothing you can do! Theyre long gone! Not even the Inuzuka can find any trace… Minato don’t go after them alone!”
But he wasn’t listening, his mind was in a twist, imagining the worst. All the kidnapped children he’d met, children from Konoha. Innocent kids, who weren’t even ninja yet, taken by his clan. Tortured to death Mutilated corpses put on display.
He ran at full speed, all the way to Kushina’s house.
He didn’t bother going in the house, but for the woods and river behind it. Just as Fuji had warned, there was nothing. No discarded weapons or footprints, no traces of any sort.
“Kushina…” He whispered, worried and frantic. He inhaled, exhaled, trying to calm down, to think. Where were they, why were they here, and when exactly.
He changed his mind, running back to Kushina’s house. She had traced mud into the house, which led to the bathroom and appeared on the bathroom counter top. He instantly understood that she had run in here from excitement, not fear. Otherwise the countertop footprints wouldn’t be there.
There were actually two sets. One directly facing the mirror, place at a certain angle and distance apart to imply she was posing.
“The headband.” He realized. “She was looking at herself, with her new headband.”
Then they switched, turning at a point to imply some kind of territorial stance.
“She heard something.” He said, following the footprints out of the bathroom, to the kitchen.
There was a broken clock on the floor, the hands stopped at around 7:45.
“Sundown.” He left the clock on the floor and checked the area for any signs. There was nothing, only more footprints leading out the door, into the hallway, down the hallway, and stopping . Frantic footsteps, smeared in a way that told him she was trying to run faster.
He bit the inside of his lip. At the end, it was clear from the mess she had tried to struggle. Cracks in the floor, from punches, smeared footprints, a little blood, and enough red hair strands with skin at the tips to infuriate him. They’d ambushed her, more than likely they were elite jonin from one of the other four great nations. Pinned her down, beaten her, and ripped her hair out.
He picked up one of the strands, clutching it in his hand.
“Where have they taken you…?” He asked. “What do they want?”
He made for the door, stopping dead in his tracks when he noticed something. Bright red, and gleaming in the sunlight.
He quickly retrieved it, and found it was another strand of hair. Maybe a loose one that fell on its own?
No… Wait. This wasn’t long enough. About half as long as the one he’d picked up from the floor. And the tip was strange, as if it had been snipped off by a pair of scissors.
He doubted the immediate idea that they had given her a haircut. He couldn’t picture them doing it, and anyway there’d be more hair. No, Kushina herself did this. She snipped off this hair herself.
He looked again, and found three more, fluttering in the grass and shining in the sunlight, leading off into the woods.
He followed the trail, planning his rescue of Kushina in his head. As time passed, the more strands he collected, the more traces he found. Booby traps in undesignated areas, moss-covered stones that were kicked over, disturbed ant nests. How stupid of them.
He ran, wanting to catch up to them no matter what. He disarmed traps at a speedy rate and continued after them.
The sun disappeared completely, leaving the moon in its wake. Minato could tell how late it was, how time was running out. It made him run faster, set off traps deliberately only to dodge them, and continue.
When he found them, he saw Kushina, walking with heavy footsteps and a dropping head. She was exhausted, and they were making her walk with her hands tied behind her back.
A cloud moved in front of the moon, and Minato attacked them. He landed a kick to the head on one, then landed on one hand and bounded away into the trees, returning to knee another in the neck before hiding himself once more. The third was a fast learner, and jumped back, landing on a tree branch. Minato silently snuck up on him, jumping from one area to another, knocking out the third with a punch to his chest core.
He watched, satisfied, as the third one fell from the tree and landed in a heap.
Kushina was still walking when he went to retrieve her, and he waited for her to look up.
The cloud moved on, shining lunar light down on the two of them. One of her eyes was drooping.
He smiled. At least she was okay. Not too badly hurt, alive.
Thank goodness.
“Are you hurt?” He asked.
She looked up, disbelief mixing with the exhaustion.
“I came to save you.” He explained, gripping the hair strands.
Slowly, she smiled, a moment before her knees gave out.
He caught her; relieved she was back, safe. Alive…
“You’re safe now.” He told her, picking her up and untying her hands.
She still had the energy to be embarrassed, apparently, because as soon as he had her in his arms she was protesting, though not as dramatically as before.
“Hold on a minute…!” She demanded as he jumped into the air,
landing on a tree. They were so far away from Konoha, he couldn’t even see the mountain with the hokage heads.
“That’s…!” She gasped, looking at the hair in his hand.
“I noticed right away because your hair is so pretty.” He informed her, still smiling.
She pouted, sulking and looked away. “But you’ve always ignored me.”
“That because I know you’re strong.” He grinned. “In body and in spirit. But this was a fight between villages. Its different from your other fights, so…”
“So?”
“So I didn’t want to lose you.”
He grinned from ear to ear, happier than ever. Kushina said nothing, but that was fine because the small amount of blush just around her cheek bones was adorable.
“Minato! Kushina!”
He looked up, surprised.
“Jiraiya Sensei!”
Jiraiya, Fuji, and a single black op landed on a separate tree, a small distance away from them.
“Are you okay, kiddo?” Jiraiya called. “How’s the girl?”
Minato hopped over to join them. Kushina was already out cold.
“She’s very tired.” He answered sympathetically. “She needs medical attention.”
“My team are rounding up the enemy as we speak.” Said the anbu. “How did you track them? We merely followed your traces.”
Minato opened his hand, letting the hair that was looped around his fingers sway in the wind.
“She left a trail of hair for us to follow.” He answered. “But I think I was the only one who noticed.”
A second anbu appeared next to the first.
“They appear to be from the hidden cloud.” He reported. “They wear the same garb, and headbands.”
“Kidnapping ninja… Do they want to start a war?” Fuji asked.
“Nope, they probably weren’t expecting to get caught.” Jiraiya argued. “And this isn’t the first time this has happened. Everyone wants a full-blooded, prodigal, Uzumaki heiress. They just snuck in and out of our defenses like it was nothing because they’re that good.”
The second anbu held his arms out to Minato.
“Give her to me, I’m a medic.” He requested.
Minato wasn’t very willing to part with her after all the excitement, but it was for her own good. Reluctantly, he handed her to the anbu, who disappeared together with his captains and three other anbu who joined them from below.
“Okay, now to get you home.” Jiraiya pointed down at him. “And are you okay?”
Minato noticed the sky was getting lighter. His knees and legs were trembling from running all night, without sleep or dinner, and his eyes burned a little.
“I’m fi—” He started to say, when Jiraiya picked him up and placed him on his shoulders.
He didn’t complain, and leaned against his head with all its spiky white hair. He could actually fall asleep like this.
“Minato, that was a stupid move.” Fuji complained. “Never do it again.”
“Are you upset because you didn’t get to show off?” He asked, completely serious.
“No.” He answered a little too hastily. “We’re a team remember? We’re supposed to act as one. Right, Sensei?”
“Well yeah.” Jiraiya agreed. “Except, I don’t think anyone but Minato could have followed that trail of hairs she left. I certainly wouldn’t have noticed it. And you rely too heavily on your sharingan, so you would have been looking for chakra like you always do and completely missed the clue that was right under your nose.”
Fuji blinked and looked away, ashamed but not saying anything.
“Let’s just go home.” Jiraiya reached around and up, petting Minato’s head. “The enemy was capture, Minato and Kushina are both safe. We’ll save the lectures for another day. Besides, we have our friends back home, who are pulling their hair out over us.”
Minato laughed. That last part came out as a bad pun.
Halfway home, Minato followed Kushina’s example and fell asleep.
Alright, I am not sure what to do for part 6 but when its done I will post the link right here:
So please look forward. Also, sorry if you were expecting some grand battle or something, thats not how it went down in the anime, and I'm sure Kishi didnt imagine Minato tkaing very long to take out a handful of kidnappers either, and I wanted to be legit.
