Okay so here's part 8. Its half as long as the others, and I tried to edit it to make it easier to read. Please enjoy.
Part 8
They landed somewhere far away, but still within amegakre. It was good he had set up several hidden marks around the continent while on missions, otherwise this wouldn’t be possible.
The rain was heavier here, but several caves were available for shelter. Fuji chose the least obvious one and the four of them set up camp there.
“This is bad, Minato.” Mikoto told him after examining his wounds.
“She’s right man!” Kizashi pointed with one hand and brushed his hair back anxiously with the other. “Your ribs and stomach are like… Five different colors!”
Fuji shushed him and continued to watch the area, sharingan activated.
“Is there anything you can do Mikoto?” He asked, worried.
She wrung her hands and looked shamefully at the floor. “I can mix some medicine to help with the swelling and pain… But there’s nothing else I can do besides that. I’m not a medic ninja like lady tsunade... This is mostly because Kushina wasn’t the one to seal the time, pain, and injury-energy into some foreign object. Minato had to seal the damage within himself, making it build up like a time bomb in one spot. Even if he didn’t use his vital organs to contain the damage, individual cells weren’t built for this kind of strain.”
Kizash I glared at Fuji. “This is your fault, Uchiha! For driving Kushina away! If she was here, this sort of injury would be no problem for her!”
Fuji turned his back on guard duty and advanced towars Kizashi. “What are you talking about? His is his own fault for trusting that outsider!”
“She’s a konoha ninja just like the rest of us, you insensitive prick! Why do all Uchihas have to be like this?! Your narrow minded, gloom-and-doom, superiority complexes seriously tick me off, *******!”
“Better than coming from a worthless clan of idiots who can’t even make chunin!”
“Atleast we support our fellows, you scum! Instead of driving them away and turning them into rogue ninjas!”
“She tried to kill Minato and Mikoto!”
“It was a ****ing accident! Get over it!”
“BOTH OF YOU SHUT UP!”
Mikoto slapped them across their faces while Minato sat, still covered in his own blood and sweat.
Everyone was silent while she breathed heavily, glowering at the two of them.
“Fighting won’t solve anything.” She told them. “It won’t save Kushina or Minato. Fugaku, I understand just how much you care about Minato… and me… but we love Kushina. She was the first friend I ever made after coming here. I was so lonely before I met her. Andall the other girls picked on me until she stood up to them. Minato was just going through the motions, not really enjoying life. But when Kushina said she wanted to be hokage, he decided he knew what to do with his life. And he really smiles now, from his heart… He never did that before. He never had a reason too…
“Kushina saved us. But we’re not able to rely on her right now. Its my fault too, for not being strong enough to stand up for myself on my own… And then getting injured. I didn’t understand her at all, even though we’re best friends… So she can’t save us. Not right now. We have to work with what we have. And we will, because I refuse to let him die in this stinking hell!”
Fugaku and Kizashi shifted uncomfortably.
“So, uh, what can we do?” Kizashi asked. “Call lady tsunade?”
“That’s impossible.” Fuji shook his head. “She’s in the hidden stone right now, out of wireless range. Minato could summon her, but not in this state, with that severe njury and such low chakra. He’ll die.”
Mikoto balled her fists, and turned to her friend.
“Unseal the wound.” She commanded, making the three gasp.
‘What is this?” Fuji eyed her suspiciously, but without the malice and hostility he wqould have aimed at Kushina.
“He could bleed to death if he does that!” Kizashi argued.
“No he won’t.” Mikoto got down on her knees and let her hand hover over his wound. “Because Fugaku is going to burn it shut.”
“That’ll be no different than sealing it shut!” Kizashi pointed at Minato’s swollen, red, blue, purple, orange, and black side. “The damage will just build up again, and he’ll bleed on the inside!”
Minato took the earing she was wearing off. It shined blue in the moonlight.
“What’s that?” Fuji asked.
“Kushina’s.” She answered. “She gave it to me for my birthday, a few years ago. It holds special medicine that can heal internal and minor injuries in an instant. It can even restore entire organs, or bring back the dead if they have only been dead for five miutes.”
“H-How’s that possible?” Kizashi asked.
“Uzushio is the land of medicine, imbecile. They were famous for this kind of stuff.” Fugaku answered, rolling his eyes.
“Fine!” He brushed the insult aside. “If you had that all this time, why didn’t you use it before?”
“Because,” Mikoto frowned, “Something like this is dangerous to use. It’s made out of ancient uzushio souls, and so its alive. Its very picky about who its used on, and if you aren’t deemed worthy by it, you’ll die in a very gruesome way.”
“H-How gruesome?”
“I don’t know, Kushina didn’t go into details. But she did say that the amount of damage equals the days taken away from you. Basically, this medicine is just soul power and ancient energy that turns life energy into elixr. It really doesn’t have any power on its own. It uses yours to save you, in exchange for taking a week, a month, or a year, and so on, away from you for good.”
Fuji narrowed his eyes. “In other words… It eats away at you lifespan.”
Minato eyed the vile.
“How much time will Minato lose?!” Kizashi asked. “Can you tell?”
“No.” She answered. “Maybe Kushina could, if she was here… But I have no clue.”
“Then there’s no point in using it!” Kizashi threw his arms up. “It might take all his time away! He could die immediately after being healed, or a week from now, or a month or a year and we wouldn’t even see it coming!”
“… That’s no different from now.” Minato pointed out, getting everyone’s attention. “I could die like this. Or the day after that, or the day after that, or the day after that. And the same goes for all of you… Even if we weren’t ninja, that would still be true. It’s part of being human…”
Kizashi opened his mouth to talk, then closed it. He opened it again, and closed it again… Minato smiled at his friend. He was very lucky, to have such loyal allies, but they all knew it to be true. No one knew how much time they had, and he needed to save Kushina now.
“What if… What if I gave him some of my time?” Kizashi asked. “Is that possible? Mikoto?”
“No.” Minato said, before she could answer. “I won’t allow that. This is my life, and my time. I’ll use it how I please.”
“But Minato…”
He formed the hand signs to release the seal, and the next moment he blacked out. After his vision came back into focus, everyone was calling out to him, holding on to his arm or hand.
“I’m good…” He lied. “Do it now, Mikoto. Fuji… We don’t have the time to waste…”
They looked like they could cry or scream or punch him, but they obeyed his orders.
In the morning, the four set out after Kushina again.
