As a realistic fanfiction where i stick to what happened in the actual naruto manga, this chapter includes the scene we saw in the jiraiya flashback special of shippuden. Please enjoy and comment if you have the time. One more thing: I've decided to end it with the 21st chapter.

Part 19

"Hello, Sasuke."

Mikoto smiled, with Fugaku beside her, watching Minato closely as he pinched the baby's hand lightly inbetween his fingers.

"What do you think?" Mikoto asked. "Isn't he handsome?"

"Babies can't be handsome." Fugaku corrected. "Just cute."

"Poor boy looks too much like his mom." Minato commented. "Hope he doesn't get teased."

"What do you mean?" Mikoto asked, offended.

"He means you're beautiful." Fugaku told her. "And with your face he might be called a girly boy."

"You two are being ridiculous!" Mikoto turned away so they couldn't see Sasuke. "He's wonderful. This one will be a real heartbreaker. I can't wait to see him being chase by girls. Juggling ten girls at once. My sweet boy."

Fugaku made a disgusted/embarrassed face that Minato had never seen before.

"You want him to be a PLAYBOY?!" He shouted. "Mikoto, what's wrong with you?! And being chased by girls is awful! They stalk you everywhere, put weird drugs in food, try to jump you when you're sleeping--"

"Or in the shower." Minato added, shuddering. "They rush you all at once on holidays. When you reject them they either go crazy and try to kill you or burst into tears. When you try to comfort them or apologize they take it the wrong way and assume you're going our with them--"

"When you get married, they try to set your house on fire."

"If you talk to one of your female classmates, they'll accuse her of horrible things."

Both men were shaking like terrified little boys.

"Father you look like you're going to throw up." Itachi said, stating the obvious.

Mikoto handed Sasuke to him and placed her hands on Minato and Fuji's shoulders.

"Yes, yes." She soothed. "There, there, you poor mistreated hearthrobs. Girls are horrible, aren't they?"

"Girls are horrible?" Itachi asked.

"No." Mikoto told him. "Your dad and Minato are just having nervous breakdowns." Her expression turned sour and she frowned at Fuji. "Really, you should be comforting me, Fugaku. I'm the one who has to put up with all your crazy fangirls."

"When is Lady Kushina going to come see Sasuke?"

The three adults looked at him awkwardly.

"Itachi." Mikoto marched over. "We told you not to ask about her."

"But Sasuke's over a month old and she still hasn't come yet." He pointed out. "I thought she was your best freind, mom. Dads best freind is here."

"We told you!" Mikoto snapped, crossing her arms. "Kushina is very sick right now."

"But she doesn't seem like the type who gets sick--"

"Go to your room!"

Without another word, Itachi took Sasuke and left. A moment later, they heard his bedroom door shut.

Mikoto turned around, hugging herself and biting her lip.

"I'm sorry." She squeezed her eyes shut. "He's too smart for his age. It's hard to lie to him, and not just because he sees fight through any lie."

"Don't apologize." Minato sighed. "I half expected him not to fall for it."

"How is she?" Fuji asked.

Minato's eyes shuddered. "The seal got even weaker. She's okay, being a sealing jutsu master and an uzusshio kunoichi. She can monitor the seal and handle the additional pain. Her temper improved a bit, too, since she can tell I'm so worried..."

Fugaku grabbed his shoulder.

"Don't take it all on yourself." He warned. "If something bad happens, you can call us."

Minato squinted.

"Fuji, thank you." He brushed his hand away. "But you can't keep doing this. I do not need your profs ruin. And you can't afford to give it to me. Not just Itshi, but Sasuke is here too, now. Spend all your worry on them."

"What are you talking about?" Fuji stepped back. "I told you before, you're as much a family member to me as anyone from Uchiha. And you've protected the Uchiha for years. We owe you."

"You owe me nothing." He argued. "You people are of Konoha, like the rest of us. Danzo has no right to slay his own kind. And I'm a Kage. I will protect all of you, even at the cost of my life."

Fuji pointed. "Why do you have to say things like that?! Just because you're yondaime hokage doesn't mean you have to become a sacrificial pawn for this village!"

"No I don't." He agreed. "But I have to be prepared for that. Because that is the responsibility of any Kage. To protect his family with his life."

"No that's not true." Fuji grabbed both of Minato's shoulders and shook him. "That's the responsibility for any family member. So it's also my job to protect you."

Minato couldn't look at him. He was staring at the floor.

"Even now, I am not good at arguing with you." He smirked at the irony. "But still, I always win our arguments. And you know why, don't you?"

Fuji didn't answer.

"It's because I am always right."

"That's arrogant, Minato." Fuji glared. "It's not like you."

"Arrogant?" Minato smiled dryly. "Maybe. But true. You know it is true. You know I am right when I say: if I were to drop dead right now, you would not be able to handle it. You could not accept it. You would not let it go. And Sasuke and Itachi and Mikoto would suffer for it. But it is different for me. It's not as if I expect you to die any minute, but if you did, I would be able to handle it. Because its always there, in the back of my mind. Because I lived through it when I was very little. That is the difference between Mikoto,me andeven Itachi, and you. We can accept the death of our family, and move past it. We can look to the future. But you would remain stuck in the past, get caught up in revenge, and destroy everyone around you."

Fuji clenched his teeth.

"You're not arguing." Minato pointed out. "So you acknowledge what I've said to be the truth. That's why I am going to tell you something else."

Mikoto stood by, looking helpless. Fuji waited.

"I don't expect to die anytime soon." Minato stated. "Let me make that clear. But I do take the possibility into account. So I want you to do something. If I die, take the Uchiha, and get out of this village."

Mikoto and Fuji flinched.

"What?" Mikoto asked. "Why?!"

"Did he threaten you?" Fuji asked. "Or us?"

"He hasn't done anything at all." Minato answered. "Or said anything. I can tell just from looking at him. I am an eyesore to him, but the Uchiha are both a prize and a thorn in his side. He'd stoop to anything to get rid of you. Right now, he won't act. Because I'm here. And I will remain here indefinitely. But if I were gone, there would be no one protecting you. His plan would be longtime but clever and well thought out. He would initiate it without fail if I were ever to die and leave you here. You must be prepared. We are ninja, but we are mortal. Even me, the strongest in this village, can die. Even you."

Fugaku crossed his arms. He seemed to be trying to hide his unease by looking annoyed.

But Minato's eyes were clear and direct.

It was typical of them both.

"Why are you so worried about this now?" Fugaku snapped.

"Because all my freinds are having children. And so am I." He laughed. "Some of them already have. Including you. So I am very worried, about what would happen toy soon-to be-born-son if I were gone. I guess this is what all parents worry about."

He turned away. "I'll come again. Itachi, not a word of this to anyone."

Fuji and Mikoto both whirled, to see Itachi step out of the hallway shadows.

"Yes sir."

He left them like that. If they were scolding him, they were doing it quietly because he didn't hear any shouting.

He went straight home, to find Kushina making dinner.

"Welcome home!" She greeted him with a smile, like always. "Dinner will be done soon."

"You really do make me feel better." He told her.

"Huh?"

He shook his head, took her hands in his and leaned his forehead agains hers so those faces if together like puzzle pieces.

"It's nothing." He said. "Fuji and I had a minor disagreement. And I think I might have gotten Itachi in trouble."

"Oh! What about the babies?" Kushina grabbed his shirt, excited. "Mikoto's and Kizashi's. Are they cute? Do they drink a lot of milk? Do they cry a lot?"

Minato laughed. "They're very cute. And healthy. Sakura cries a lot. But Mikoto's and Fuji's new son is very quiet. I went to see Neji too. He has teeth now."

"Really?!"

"Yes, and he bit me." Minato showed her his bandaged hand, with a little red stain near his thumb.

"Ouch! That looks painful." She held his hand in both if hers, turning it over, examining it. "Why'd be bite you?"

"I'm not sure." Minato pinched his chin. "I think he might just not like me."

"That's wierd. Kids love you." Kushina thought aloud. "Itachi, Shisui... Remember when Guy, Asuma, Kurenai and Kakashi were little and you'd play with them all the time."

"They forgot a long time ago, but yeah I remember." He answered. "It's fine if Neji or even Sasuke dislike me as long as..."

He slid down, resting his head on her stomach just in time to feel him kick.

"As long as you respect me."

Kushina stroked his hair for a minute.

"I bet he's cute too!" She said. "I bet he'll be chased by girls all the time."

Minato looked up at her, disturbed.

"Why do mothers want that?"

"Go wait at the table while I finish cooking." She told him, ignoring his question.

He walked off, sighing and shuddering at some terrible childhood memories. He needed something to calm him down...
Spotting Jiraiya-Sensei's book, he pulled it out and took a seat the table. It worked to calm him down, and make him laugh from time to time. He stared at the last page, more specifically at the last line, for a long time.
Jiraiya slapped Minato on the back.

"Aha!" He grinned. "You're reading my 'Tales of a Gutsy Ninja' eh?! Still it's only my first book. Wordy and childish--"

"No I don't think that at all." Minato tapped the book against his chin. "This book is wonderful."

"Ohh?"

Jiraiya walked around the dining room table to sit opposite Minato.

"Every chapter reads like one of your numerous adventures that you used to tell me about, Sensei." Minato smiled as he opened the book. "Like an autobiography."

Jiraiya looked very uncomfortable. "Some autobiography. It didn't sale at all. I'm thinking of adding some erotic qualities to my future books."

After all its worked so far, Jiraiya thought.

"The main character... His determination to never give up is really cool." Minato scanned the last paragraph. "He's a lot like you, Sensei."

Jiraiya rubbed the back of his head. "You think so?"

Minato shut the book, laying it on the table.

"So I was thinking..." He grinned.

"I really hope my unborn son can become a great ninja just like the main character in this book! That's why I would like your permission to name my son after him."

Jiraiya was astonished.

"Are you sure?!" He asked. "It's just a random, weird name I came up with while eating ramen!"

"Naruto." Kushina said,

coming out of the kitchen while running her belly. "It's a wonderful name."

"Kushina..." Jiraiya said as Kushina walked over, placing a hand on Minato's shoulders. "But wouldn't that make me his godfather? Are you two really sure about this?"

"We wouldn't have it any other way." Minato assured him. "We don't know anyone as remarkable as you. Someone who possesses the talent of a true shinobi."
