I was eager to write this so i wen ahead and did two chapters in one day. For the record, I have no idea the age differences between itachi, sasuke, and kakashi. From their picture from the chapters about Naruto's birth, I believe Itachi was 7-9 and Kakashi was 14-16. Still, no clue. A portion of this (the end) was taken from chapter 607, which has a few flashback panels to when obito first met minato so i went ahead and used that. I do not own that section. They are Kishimotos words. This is a realistic fanfiction, where i try to stick to the correct information about the characters. Also, i had to fit alot into this one chapter, so its longer than others. I also was unsure of minatos life timeline when i wrote this so he's twenty-two here. Some say he was this old when naruto was born. Others say he was 27, others say thirty. Anway, Enjoy part 11.

Part 11
“Students?” Hiashi asked. “Third lord gave you students?”
Minato handed Itachi back to Fuji, who looked just as concerned as Hizashi, Hiashi, and Shiki.
“Yes.” He answered, patting Itachi’s head a little roughly so he squeezed his eyes shut and moaned at him.
“Are you okay with this?” Fuji and shiki asked in unison.
“Hmm. Well I’m a little nervous but other than that I’m just fine with it.” He answered as he watched Fuji rock the baby back and forth. “I’m actually kind of excited.”
Fuji narrowed his eyes at him. “Okay, whatever. Never mind what we think but… kids die very easily these days. Just be careful, Minato.”
“Says the first person in our year to have a son.” Minato pointed at Itachi, who was chewing on Fujis hand a little.
“Anyway I’ll train them so they don’t die so quickly.”
Fuji held Itachi up for his four friends to see.
“He will be just fine.” Fuji glared at them. “He’s an uchiha. And my kid. He’ll grow so old his teeth’ll fall out. Trust me on that one. But these kids of yours… Who are they anyway?”
Minato turned a little sheepish. “Well you know one of them very well.”
Fuji made a face almost instantly. “You’ve got to be joking. Don’t tell me it’s Obito?”
Minato nodded.
Shiki sighed. “The obito Fugaku’s always complaining about? The first son of the famous kagami who turned out to be a dud?”
“He’s not a dud.” Minato corrected. “He’s an uchiha like the rest of them, whose going to be very strong. I’m sure of it. And I hear he shares my goal.”
Hizashi leaned against the wall. “No way… seriously? A dud like him?”
“I told you, he’s not a dud.” Minato insisted.
Hiashi held his hand out in a way that said exactly what he did. “But you’ve actually got a chance at it minato. I mean you’re—“
“The yellow flash, a child prodigy.” Fuji pointed out.
“Top of the class, above Fugaku and me.” Shiki gestured to himself and Fuji.
“Unswervingly loyal, with good standards.” Hizashi smiled at his friends.
“A favorite of Homura, Koharu, and lord Hiruzen too.” Hiashi said.
Minato blushed a little, embarrassed by his friends. “None of that stuff matters. Never doubt the underdog.”
All four of them smirked, annoying Minato to no end.
“Wipe those stupid looks off your faces.” He warned.
“Oh I see now…” Hizashi walked up and put his arm on his friends shoulders. “Your defending Kushina, not obito!”
Shikaku and Fugaku became deathly quiet while the hyuga twins teased Minato.
“You don’t seriously think you’ll lose to her, do you?”
“Well, I—”
“Don’t worry, you’ve got her beat.”
“I—”
“You’re way mor famous than that tomat—”
Minato reached around and in two quick jerks of the wrist pushed the hyuga twins heads into each other, creating a loud cracking sound.
The two hit the floor, rubbing the sides of their heads where it hurt.
“Ow!”
“Minato that hurt!”
“Sorry, but I don’t enjoy being hugged by men.” He gave the a two fingered salut as he dashed out the door. “See you.”
As he wa leaving, he somehow locked eyes with Shiki and Fuji, now a counsel member and the leader of the Uchiha.
Both pairs of eyes were saying:
Be careful.
Don’t do anything stupid.
In response, he nodded to them and was out of sight a millisecond later.
As he left the other Uchiha members greeted him and waved. He was always welcome here, despite not being a clan member. Most of the other Uchiha lived in places all around the village, but the police force, the main family and their close relatives lived in in this area together.
His relationship withthem was one of the points Danzo was using against him.
“Except for him, no other ninja are allowed to come and go as they please.” He had told the counsil when Minato was called before them as a fourth hokage candidate. “They will not even allow the non uchiha anbu to patrol there, day or night. The core of the Uchiha clan needs to be investigated. I sense they are plotting something devious. Minato is too young and trusting to have such a job done when we need it to be.”
“And you are too old and impatient and power hungry to trust your fellow konoha shinobi.” Minato had countered.
“Just because they are an old family with great power does not give you permission to treat them like dangerous,
unstable weapons or even cattle. If you would do justice to your years and display some wisdom and understanding im sure they would not be so careful with you. And for the record, the only anbu doing patrol right now are your own root anbu, who have been given the task of sniffing out any spies or traitors in this time of war.”
Danzo hadn’t even flinched. “I never said I didn’t trust them. They are being unreasonable by not trusting in me, an elder assigned with the task of protecting this village and all who live here as much as Koharu or Homura do. You are too sensitive about the Uchiha, acting as if you must shield them from me. “
“I am not shielding them from you.” He kept an hhonest face and eyes when he said this. “However, you are a member of the corrupted, dark Konoha that emerged in the shadows after the ascension to hokage of Lord Hiruzen, who was only a teenager.”
Danzo shot to his feet. “And you are only in your early twenties!” He pointed at Minato and turned to the feaudal lord, outraged. “We can’t allow this child to be hokage! He is soft, understanding nothing of the world or the villages need for sacrifices—“
“If the world continues to sit atop a pyramid of wars and bodies, then there is no hope.” Minato announced, silencing the entire room.
“Our village, our way of life, will totter back and forth over the bloodshed, always unstable, never finding stability or peace. Danzo speaks that sacrifices are necessary, but that is only because of the distrust greed and vengeance that ones such as him possess. He is merely caught in the flow of a current that he has no desire to defeat, believing it is natural. Perhaps that is true, but just because something is natural, does not mean it is good or should be accepted. War ha always been apart of our shinobi waay of life. I love ninjutsu, and being a ninja. Even now, when im forced to accept the darker-than-black, stained-in-blood core of the village I love so much. I would like to stake my life on putting an end to the so-called necessary sacrifices that Danzo speaks of… But as the hokage of Konoha village. I hope you will accept me as Lord Hiruzen’s heir.”
Danzo had been angry with both Minato and the Uchiha since they returned with Kushina. Fuji had stood close-by, a trigger-happy territorial grudge-holding best friend with sharingan eyes, ready to attack the elders at any time. He bluntly stated that the other Uchiha were as loyal to him as he was to Minato, and they adored Minato who was constantly defending the Uchiha, who were feared even within the village.
“They would be more than willing to go against you lot to protect him.” He warned.
Danzo had argued that the allies of Minato as well as Minato himself had disobeyed the village’s law and order, and had disclosed information on secret plans to the most suspicious family in Konoha, who were the descnedants of the same Uchiha who murdered many Senju during the warring states era.
“The other Uchiha know nothing of Kushina’s jinchuuriki status. Only we four, Kushina herself, Lord Hiruzen, and you three elders are aware.” Minato argued. “The Uchiha believe the same as those in Kumogakure. That Kushina was entrusted by her clan with the position of the nine-tailed foxes hidden location.”
“Silence.” Danzo had ordered. “You children may be jonin, but you are not above me. Especially a boy from the Namikaze clan who can’t follow orders correctly.”
Minato was taken aback by this. “Can’t follow orders?”
“Hiruzen entrusted you with guarding the jinchuuriki, no?” Danzo looked at Kushina, who was directly behind Minatom holding onto his hand, wanting nothing more thanto take him far away from the elders. “Instead, you allow yourself to be injured to the point of it being fatal. You allow Fugaku Uchiha to drive her out of the Village. You chase after her with severe, unhealed injuries. You use illegal medication from a foreign land to heal yourself at the risk of your life, and you locate the Akatsuki hideout only to let them all escape. On top of that, Uchiha picked up quite a bit of slack for you, no?”
Then Danzo paled in the face. He backed away, gripping his headand screaming. Before Minato realized what was going on, Fugaku had destroyed Danzo’s right eye with several shuriken that appeared out of nowhere.
Genjutsu. A strong genjutsu that fooled everyone in the room until Danzo’s right eye and arm were pierced everywhere, ripped to shreds and completely useless.
Without his arm, Danzo’s ninja days were over. Fugaku had seriously an elder, and was imprisoned for weeks, putting the Uchiha in a bad position. While Minato and Mikoto helped Fuji’s father keep order in the clan, something odd happened. Fuji’s mother disappeared mysteriously, and immediately following his release, Fugaku’s fathers death left him as the leader of the clan.
Fuji was strong, and was able to endure his parents’ deaths. Mikoto was there for him, and their time together led to them getting married.
And now they had a cute son that everyone, even their friends were fawning over.
If Minato had any doubts about being hokage, it was what he might learn. As leader, he would discover eve ndarker shadows lying within the village than outside of it.
If I can just protect everyone here, He thought to himself, then I don’t mind being an existence built off sacrifices. My family and Konoha’s crimes… As a result of them, im alive now. That much is true. I will live with it as long as I can protect everyone.
“To be hokage is to promise to die for the sake of your village.” He told himself. “Even if that’s true, I wont mind as long as everyone else is safe. Still, that sounds so impossible… Protecting everyone…”
He stopped running by skidding on his foot and stumbling into a walk. Third training ground. Minato smiled wistfully. This is where he met Jiraiya sensei, who was like a father to him. More so than his real father ever was. Minato’s memories of that man weren’t very pleasant. But his memories with Jiraiya were ridiculous and exciting.
He sighed. Minato and his teammates had all survived thanks to Jiraiya’s training. He had to make sure these children were safe too, by giving them the means to defend themselves.
He stood on top of one of the wooden stumps until the first one arrived.
A little girl with big brown eyes and jaw length brown hair ran up to him, breathing heavily and adjusting her headband before greeting him.
“H… Hello.” She sighed. “A… Are you Minato-sensei?”
He smiled at her. “Yes. You’re Lady Nohara’s daughter, right? Rin?”
She looked surprised. “Oh you know my kaa-chan…!”
They talked for a little while before the second one arrived at three on the dot. Neither early nor late. He appeared out of the trees, jumping to the ground and landing perfectly.
Rin greeted him instantly. “Hello, Kakashi. You made it on time.”
Kakashi looked bored. “Of course I did.” Then he met Minato’s eyes. “Are you the sensei?”
“Yes.” He answered, smiling. “Are you Master Sakumo’s son?”
Apparently that didn’t earn him any points with Kakashi, who showed an instant dislike of Minato at the mention of his fathers name.
What did I do? He wondered.
The last one, Obito, turned out to be more troublesome than Minato first thought. They waited, and waited and waited. Rin sat still, infinitely patient. Kakashi started throwing kunai at the tree stump Minato was standing on.
One missed the stump and flew by minato’s ankle, cutting it a little.
Minato hopped down and frowned pointedly at Kakashi, who crossed his arms behind his head and looked away, whistling. Rin ran over and place a hand over Minato’s cut. A moment later it was healed.
“Thank you.” He told her. “That’s very impressive Rin.”
Rin was very modest. “Not really. Kaa-chan could have done it much more quickly. Kakashi, you should apologize to sensei.”
“What?” He said. “But my hand slipped.”
The expression on his face made it clear that was impossible.
Minato took a wide step back and threw a pair of kunai himself that tore the mask in just the right way to make it fall
without cutting Kakashi.
“Hey!” He yelled at Minato, who crossed his arms in front of him.
“What?” He said, throwing the boys words back at him. “My hand slipped.”
Rin stared in awe at Kakashi. “So that’s what his face looks like.”
The boy turned away, angry. “I’m going home.”
“We’re not finished here.” Minato reminded him.
Kakashi whirled around.“To get another mask, smiley-sensei!”
Then he stomped off.
“I don’t think im deserving of that nickname.” He thought aloud.
“True, you seem really serious.” Rin agreed.
Twenty minutes later, Kakashi returned with a new mask as promised.
“I think we should go ahead and start.” Minato decided. “Obito can fill us in later.”
“Start what?” Rin asked.
“Introducing ourselves.” He told her.
“How about you go first, smiley-sensei.” Kakashi suggested.
“I’m not Smiley.” Minato told him matter-of-factly. “My name is Minato Namikaze. I hobby is reading, mostly my senseis books. My favorite food is… Well I can’t tell you that. I’m twenty-two, and my dreams are to fight Jiraiya-sensei someday and become hokage.”
Kakashi and Rin stared blankly at him for a moment.
“What?” He asked. This usuall wasn’t the reaction he got, it was making him uncomfortable.
“Hehe… Sensei, you and Obito are going to get along very well.” Rin told him.
“Of course they are. Morons.” Kakashi commented.
“How about you go next then?” Rin asked.
“… My name is Kakashi Hatake. My hobby is none of smiley-sensei’s business—“
“He also enjoys reading.” Rin told Minato. “He doesn’t want to have anything in common with you, I think—“
“Rin!”
“Hehe!”
“Ugh! My favorite food salt-broiled saury and miso soup with eggplant, while my least favorites are anything fried or sweet. I would like to fight smiley-sensei one day, to shut him up for good—“
“I look forward to it.”
“Quit interrupting! And if you say father’s name again I’ll hit you.”
Minato ignored him and looked at Rin.
“You’re turn.” He told her.
She crossed her arms behind her back. “My name is Rin Nohara. My hobby is collecting seashells. My favorite food is strawberries, and my least favorite food is tsukudani. I don’t really have anyone I’d like to fight, but I would like to become a wonderful medic ninja like my mother and save the lives of my comrades when they’re poisoned or injured.
“You’re late Obito!” Kakashi scolded.
Minato and Rin looked. A young man wearing goggles was running toward them, skidding to a stop, and bending over from exhaustion.
Minato held his hand out, pointing at Obito. “You finally arrived. So you’re Obito?”
“We’ve been waiting for you.” Rin told him
Obito breathed heavily. “Just in time..”
“You’re late, fool!” Kakashi insisted. “Everyone just finished introducing themselves. You’re the only one left.”
Obito straightened up instantly and struck a pose, pointing at the three of them.
“Im Obito Uchiha!” He declared. “I’ll become hokage! And when that happens I’ll have them carve in my hokage stone with my trademark goggles and sharingan. I’ll have authority over all the other villages! They’ll be scared of my face with the sharngan… And they won’t attack the village!”
Kakashi looked bored. “Say that again after you actually become hokage and awaken the sharingan. And anyway, you cant carve a sharingan when you’ve already have the goggles on!”
“Thay can carve it over my goggles!” Obito said.
“But that would make it look like your eyes are bugging out… hehe.” Rin laughed.
Minato smiled, embarrassed. “Anyway, I’m happy to have a teammate with the same dream as me. I’m Minato. I’ll be your sensei* starting today.”
Obito gave him a thumbs up. “Yeah!”

“Yeah!”
