Okay here's part 10. Thank you readers, for all your praise. FYI this is not where it ends. I'm thinking of ending it either just before or after their deaths, so there'll be a next chapter. I'm thinking of introducing Obito, Kakashi, and Rin next chapter. Does anyone know how old Minato was when he first started training them? And what age he was when he bacame hokage? Was he already hokage when he became their teacher? Anyway, enjoy.
Here's part 10
Part 10
Minato wasn’t getting through to the inside of their hideout as easily as he’d hoped.
They fought with their lives on the line in front of the hideouts main entrance, which was well hidden as a cliff-side door. They’d carved their home out of the cliffs using earth-style ninjutsu. He was impressed.
Finding them hadn’t been easy. Years earlier, Minato had placed his flying thunder god mark on kushina, however being a sealing jutsu master herself, she found it easily (even though it was on her back)and sealed the seal itself onto the floor of her house.
However there was a spare. A second, emergency seal that only activated once minato did a specific, intricate series of signs. The human head loses somewhere between 40-120 hairs each day. The second seal dispersed a small, unnoticeable amount of chakra to each of those hairs a millisecond before they left kushina, who was always running her hands through her red hair, scattering any loose strands. Minatos jutsu activated the hair’s chakra, making all of them combine into a trail that led straight to kushina that they had been following ever since the stepped into the land of rain.
The trail led inside the rebels of amegakure’s hideout.
Which meant one thing: kushina was in there.
He grabbed the wrist of one rebel and pushed him into the ground.
“Move aside.” He ordered, punching him in the gut.
Fuji, Kizashi, and Mikoto cleared the way for them while watching each other’s backs. The door was wide open, but more and more rebels were barreling out, all of them going straight to minato and ignoring the others.
One moment he was throwing a dozen marked kunai, the next the enemies were on the ground, in pain but unconscious.
When he turned to enter the hideout he was sent flying by a masked, cloaked rebel who head-butted him in the gut.
“Minato!” Fuji called.
The two flew past the trees into a random giant stone Buddha and fell into a shallow creak.
Minato kicked the rebel off him and unpocketed a kunai before charging.
He did the same, and they clashed, spraying water here and there.
“Where is she?” He asked, his hand shaking from pushing the kunai further towards the enemy’s throat.
The silence only angered Minato more.
“I said, where is she?!” He demanded, kicking him in the knees so he lost his balance and fell backward into the water. “Where are you keeping her?”
The enemy hopped to his hands and cartwheeled away to the shore. When he got there, he waved something at minato.
A red hair.
Minato followed him. He proved to be a fast runner , but Minato was the yellow flash. It was useless to try and outrun him.
A punch to the back of the head later, the enemy was on the ground. Minato was on all fours, pinning him to the ground and holding a kunai to his throat.
“I’ve had enough!” He stated. “Now where is she?!”
Then he noticed something. Out of this guys hood, some red hair was spilling out.
Suddenly the forest was deathly quiet. Even the rain was gone. It was just the two of them, and for some reason he wasn’t really angry anymore.
“No way.” He said, pulling the mask off. “Impossible…”
Then he softened, felling hurt and disappointed.
“Kushina?” He looked at her, but she wouldn’t meet his eyes and was trying to free herself.
“I don’t understand.” He said. “Why would you run from me…?”
He really should have trapped her other arm, because she blindsided him while he was busy being distracted.
“Ugh..” He groaned, getting to his feet. What was going on…?
“Hey, wait…!” He called, getting shakily to his feet. Usually an attack like that wasn’t enough to actually hurt him, but her punches had more impact than others. And she’d punched him in the ear… he couldn’t see very clearly anymore…
But he was not letting her run off a second time.
He managed to snag her wrist in his grasp, and held on for dear life.
“Darnit, Minato!” She screamed, pulling and stretching, doing whatever she could to free herself. “Let go!”
“No!” He screamed, angry again. “What are you doing? Why are you defending them?”
“I can’t tell you!” She yelled back. “You just have to trust me on this! Now let go!”
“Why would you run from me?” He asked again. “Answer!”
“No!”
“Kushina, you—” He began, breaking off when a bolt of pain shot across his ribs. “Ow….”
He slid to the ground without letting go, and curling his arm around himself. Still so sore… Though he wasn’t in danger of dying from those wounds anymore, he was still too…
Kushina looked shamefully at him.
“Minato…?” She sat on her knees. “Is it… The wounds I gave you?”
He was half bent over in pain, but he smiled at her.
“Aha… So you are not running anymore?”
She scrunched her face up, half embarrassed, half annoyed.
“You shouldn’t have come here, idiot!” She crossed her arms. “I didn’t heal you completely. You could have died.”
“I would die for you in a heartbeat…”
She glared at him. “Shut up! That right there is the reason I ran! You’re too self-sacrificing, fool! Don’t you want to live a long life at all? Are you that eager to join your family, to make everyone who loves you cry over you forever?!”
Minato breathed heavily, still in pain. “Actually, growing old doesn’t interest me much. I’m not really looking forward to it. Unless…”
He squeezed her hand. “I win… the bet we made.”
Kushina flinched.
Then, when I become hokage, will you marry me?
Fine! Now go away!
"I won't go back without you..." He told her. "That would ruin... The future I want more than anything..."
"It would ruin the past... That we've built..."
Kushina squeezed his hand back. “I can’t go back. The elders—”
“I know.”
She whipped her head up. “What?”
“I know all about their plan.” He told her. “Don’t worry, I won’t let them touch you or anyone else. I have no interest in becoming a jinchuuriki, and Fuji is ready to turn the whole Uchiha clan against them if they try to force us to do anything. Kizashi and Mikoto are ready to fight for us too…”
“What?!” She screamed. “But Danzo—”
He clapped a hand over her mouth. “Shhh. I told you, I won’t let them touch you or anyone else. Everything will be fine. I swear. Now, please…”
He forced himself to sit up, placing both hands on her cheeks and leaning his forehead against hers.
“Come home with me.” He told her. “I can’t go back without you… I’d miss you too much.”
Kushina hesitated then placed her hands over his.
“Okay…” She answered. “But if you try to kiss me while we’re still in this country, I’ll hit you.”
“Why?”
“Because kissing in the rain is pointless and cheesy and stupid…”
