Heres part 9
Part 9
Kushina woke up with Mei curled into her side. The grogginess of eating her fill the night before and passing out suddenly passed all at once and she jolted up.

Then she remembered everything. The Akatsuki had decided to give her shelter, but not before blind folding her and knocking her out with a punch to the gut.

But she wasn’t a prisoner. Her door wasn’t locked, and she wasn’t tied up. And this little girl, Mei, had trusted her enough to climb into bed with her.

She brushed her hair back and sighed. She felt sort of relieved. These people were nothing like the kumo ninja who kidnapped her when she was a little girl.

Somebody knocked on the door.

“Come in.” She called.

Yahiko pushed the door open, smiling. He was pushin a food cart with two trays on it.

“Hello, beautiful misses… es.” He added staring at the sleeping Mei. “Hungry?”

Kushina took the food gratefully and Yahiko parked the cart in front of the door, as if trying to lock it.

“So are you going to tell me your name?” He joked while leaning back on his hands.

Kushina swallowed a mouthful of bread.

“I’m Kushina.” She told him. “So… Um… About that redhaired friend of yours…”

“Who? Nagato?” He asked. “What about him?”

“Well… Uhh… Does he have a surname?”

Yahiko shrugged. “Probably. But none of us know our surnames. I lived alone with my parents in the country side, and same goes for Konan. Nagato lived with a couple others and his parents in this mini-village on the border of the land of rain. But we never really needed to use our surnames so we sort of… Well, forgot them.”

Kushina sighed. So he wasn’t from Uzushio after all. The red hair could be a coincidence for all she knew…

“Ah, its not so bad.” Yahiko said, misunderstanding her. “Everyone in the Akatsuki are like family to me, so I don’t really care about my surname anymore.”

Kushina smiled wistfully. “That’s like Minato.”

“Minato?” Yahiko sat up and leaned forward. “Whozzat?”

“A friend of mine.” She answered half-heartedly. “I sort of… hurt him by accident. And his best friend was very angry with me. He got so mad he told me to leave the village and never return or else he’d kill me.”

Yahiko turned to face her. “Was it that bad?”

Kushina bit her lip. “I almost killed him. And my own best friend, too. Its not the first time its happened. I have poor chakra control whenever my blood boils at the sight of… Well a disgusting enemy. And then when I try to protect my
friends… I end up hurting them.”

“But that’s nothing.” Yahiko insisted. “You just lack training. Poor chakra control can be worked on. That’s no reason for you to leave the village.”

“No, but…” Kushina squeezed the bread in her hand. Could she trust Yahiko…? He did remind her of Minato…

“But what?” He asked.

“But… Well I come from a very old family.” She explained, deciding to lie just a little. “And we work with beasts, demons, ancient texts and jutsu… We’re very good at hiding those things. Since im the heiress, the konoha elders assume I know the location of the missing 3 tailed biju…”

“No way! Really?” Yahiko sat up, shocked. “Do you?”

Kushina nodded. “Yeah… After what happened with Minato, I went to confess. But then I overheard the elders talking about… Interrogating me into telling them where the three tails was so they could…”

Yahiko glared. “What? So they could what?”

Kushina squared her shoulders and shed a few tears.

“So they could… Turn him into a jinchuuriki.”

Yahiko flinched, and Kushina quickly dried her eyes. Crying was so pointless and annoying. She was starting to wish it wasn’t even possible…

“I decided I had to runaway, so they wouldn’t find out where 3 tails was, and turn the village against minato by making him a jinchuuriki. He doesn’t deserve to… Live that way.”

“You know how jinchuurikis are treated?”

“Well… I don’t know for sure, because ive never met one but… When I was little, I heard all kinds of horror stories. I won’t let them turn Minato into that. He’s a good person. And he’s super strong as it is. He doesn’t need the bijus power.”

“Super strong?” Yahiko asked. “Just who is he?”

“Namikaze Minato.” She answered. “The yellow flash.”

Yahiko gasped and shot to his feet.

“Y… Yellow Flash!?” He screamed, causing Konan and Nagato to burst into the room in a panic.

“Where?” Nagato demanded.

“Are you okay, Yahiko?” Konan ran over to grab him. “Where’s the yellow flash?”

Yahiko tried to relax. “Um… Well, uh… Wait a sec, he’s not actually here… Ya see… Ah…”

Someone else ran in, looking even more panicked.

“It’s the yellow flash!” He screamed. “He’s come!”

Kushina flinched.

“What?” Konan whirled, outraged.

“Where? I’ll go, Yahiko!” Nagato decided.

Yahiko reached out to his friends. “Wait a sec, calm down—”

This isn’t good, I cant let Minato see me… Kushina thought getting to her feet in a rush.

But Kanon advanced to her and pointed a kunai at her throat.

“You! This is your fault! You’ve led him here!” She accused.

Kushina smacked her hand aside. “No, that’s not it! He’s trying to take me back to Konoha! He doesn’t mean to hurt you—”

“Its true that he hasn’t killed a single member.” Said the other Akatsuki. “But he’s breaking through our defenses easily, saying we have one of his allies held hostage here.”

Kushina winced. “No that’s not true.”

“It can easily be changed!” Konan yelled.

“No, you guys are no match for him!” Kushina promised. “I’ll go lead him away, so use this time to evacuate and escape. If they’ve called for back up, Danzo will—“

“Danzo?” Yahiko asked, suddenly angry.

“One of the elders.” She explained. “He really has it out for the Akatsuki. Trust me on this, and run while I distract them!”

“Wait, Kushina!” Yahiko called as she ran past them, out the door and down the hall.
