Part 4:
Part 5:

And now, part 6:

Kushina flipped hair over her shoulder, grinning at Mikoto.

"Wow impressive!" Her best friend noted, staring at the tree. Kushina had managed to seal all the gathered nature energy into place with her sealing spells. Huge leaves and vines were growing down the tree.

"That's amazing!" Mikoto praised her. "But how's it possible?"

"You can seal pretty much anything if you're a sealing jutsu expert!" Kushina explained. "Space, energy, even time itself. I just used the sealing spells to pull in the surrounding nature energy."

"But why do the other trees and grass look okay?"

"I set up the formula so it would distribute it all really well. So what do you think? Is it better than Minato's technique?"

Mikoto might have been Kushina’s best friend, but they were fourteen now. She was childhood friends with Minato, and like him she liked to poke fun at the wrong things, but was still able to make it sound funny. And she was honest like him, even when it hurt.

“Well its impressive…” She concluded. “But Minato could probably outdo it if he tried.”

“What?! How?!”

Mikoto held up her hands apologetically. “I’m sorry, I’m not trying to be mean. But in a heads up fight, he would notice what you were planning in a heartbeat, after all those extra lessons you gave him on sealing jutsu, you know? And he’s so fast, he’d be able to stop it immediately somehow. Or prevent it.”

Kushina crossed her arms. “Auuugh! I never should have done that!”

“But it was worth it, wasn’t it?” Mikoto argued. “I mean, now he can use his speed more effectively, take down more of the enemy, and save more of our allies. And he used to come back hurt, but now, he comes home without a scratch!”

Kushina eyed her suspiciously. “You seem a little too happy about that. Do you like Minato?”

Mikoto tilted her head to the side, lost in memories of the past, and put a finger to her lips with a smile.

“I’m not sure.” She replied. “I feel something for him, but it wavers so often. There are times when he’s my best friend, as a guy I mean. Then sometimes he’s like an older brother, a little brother, a dad, a role model. And sometimes I just like to watch his back.”

Kushina made a “cheh!” sound at that. “What’s so interesting about that?”

“When he walks,” She explained, “His back seems so tall, so far away. He shines, Minato. He shines like the sun, maybe even brighter. And he’s so gentle and kind, yet still fierce and strong. He’s not bloodthirsty, like the Uchiha. Or wild, like the Inuzuka. He has a… Quiet power, a flame that just won’t burn out no matter what. Even if he died, which I don’t see happening, that flame would still keep burning.”

“The will of fire?” Kushina asked.

“Yeah, but its more than that.” Mikoto looked at the sky. “It’s like… his very soul is burning, but not like real fire that hurts people. He’s just… Warm. Really warm. Every single part of him. The other girls, the children, the elders… We can all see Minato’s flame. And we love him for it.”

Kushina madde a face at that. Too many people loved him for it. He got stalked by the girls all the time, even the little ones that were too young for him. And a lot of the ones near his age were cute, a lot cuter than Kushina.

Like Mikoto. If she decided she loved Minato enough to be in a relationship with him, what would Kushina do? Mikoto was a perfect lady, and not as much as a scaredy cat as she used to be. She was strong, too. A jounin, same as Minato, where Kushina was still genin. And she was beautiful. A perfect lady, graceful and elegant even on the battlefield.

Kushina, while strong and clever, was rough and rash and nowhere near elegant. A tomboy, a failure of a Jinchuuriki who couldn’t even keep nine tails under control properly. He’d been causing a lot of trouble lately. Whenever Minato or Mikoto or Kizashi were injured right in front of Kushina, her heart would link with nine tails and she would black out. When she woke up, she’d find herself covered in the enemies blood, and they were dead at her feet.

Minato was the only one who had seen her like that. So she couldn’t face him now. Not Minato, who would never behave that way. His kills were clean, instantaneous. He never got a drop of blood on him.

She blushed. Watching Minato fight was a real show. As long as you didn’t blink, you could see him landing hits anywhere, the smallest opening was like a giant hole to him. He’d jump around and run, blonde hair and kunai flying, bright blue eyes focused and intelligent, like a hawks.

She didn’t really remember, after being so tired, but she was sure they were the same that day.

I didn’t want to lose you.

She loved Minato. Her pride wouldn’t let her admit, since they were rivals for the hokage seat, but yes. She loved the boy called the yellow flash. Who never allowed comerades to die for him, who despised devious tricks, unfair play, and the pure genocide of war. Who played with the younger kids and told them stories of the adventures he had on his missions when they asked him to. Who took the more dangerous missions when everyone else was exhausted, hospitalized, which were the times they often sent the talented genin. Who convinced the elders to stop sending the cadets on missions. Who protected the orphans from Danzo, and defended the Uchiha and Hyuga when others tried to sacrifice them as diversions, decoys, and the like.

She loved him. Every part of him.

But he had gone back to ignoring her, as he had done before. He no longer followed her around, or told her he loved her. He never said or did anything. He’d started to change. She’d caught him talking with Danzo and Orochimaru, whom he claimed he got “bad vibes from” and couldn’t trust. He spent more time with Fugaku Uchiha than ever before, and kept his distance from her even when she worked up her courage and asked him to spar with her.

Whatever he had felt for her, if there was anything at all to begin with, was probably gone now. If she won the hokage seat, maybe he would respect her again.

“Hey girlies!”

Kushina glared. She knew that voice.

Mikoto was already clenching her fists, in an effort to keep her fear in check. Kushina whirled to see Enma and Mana Uchiha, two of the older Uchihas, and incessant playboys. Apparently Fugaku despised them, and went out of his way to ignore them rather than put a stop to their idiocy, which was kind of his job as heir.

They leered at Mikoto and Kushina the same way they did all girls. Like grubby little boys in a candy store. Disgusting.

“How are you two beautiful misses today?” Mana asked, aiming to grab Mikoto’s hand. “I hear you’ve been training a lot lattely.”

Kushina slapped him across the face and placed herself protectively in front of Mikoto.

“Oho! What’s this?” Enma leaned down to Kushina’s level. “You think you can take us on, Red-Hot-Habanero?”

She punched her palm with her fist. “Bring it on, sleeze bags. I’ll take you with my bare hands!”

Enma made a face of disgust at her. “Ugh. She’s so pretty, but not feminine at all.”

“It’s a real waste, if you ask me. Turning girls into ninja.” Mana spat. “Makes them all sweaty and gross, gives them a big head.”

“Don’t talk down to us like we’re your property.” Mikoto said, in a way that told Kushina she was trying to pull of Minato’s respectful-insult tone.

It didn’t come across well.

Enma pointed at her, angry.
“Shut up, coward! Look at you, standing there all obedient like, letting your friend here do all the fighting. What does Fugaku see in a coward like you?!”

Both Kushina and Mikoto drew a blank, very confused.

“What?” They said in unison.

Enma reached over and grabbed Mikoto’s black hair. Kushina remembered the last time this had happened. Mikoto had frozen in fear and Kushina had shown up a little late. Enma had only pinned her down then.

But not this time.

She kicked Enma in the chest so hard, he knocked into Mana and both went flying. They landed some distance away, coughing up blood.

But Kushina wasn’t done with them. Her fingernails had turned into claws and her eyes were burning. Some of the skin on her leg had ripped away, revealing a limb of black and red chakra.

Mikoto gasped, while the two driveling dogs on the ground screamed in terror and tried to run for it. She chased them and felt her rage build up in her throat.

Mikoto and Minato appeared out of nowhere, trying to shield the two.

“Stop!” They pleaded.

Too late to stop, she let it out. A burst of red chakra sent all four flying, along with several splintered trees. Everything landed in a crumpled pile, far away.

Realizing what she had just done, Kushina gasped, regaining her senses. She ran to them, finding everyone bloody and broken.

“Minato!” She called, placing the two she cared about in front of her mind and the other two in the back, a habit she had developed on the battlefield. “Mikoto!”

She found them, and screamed. They were both near death and coughing up blood with each breath. Minato had bruises everywhere, and deep wounds. His ankle was twisted in an awkward way, and his head was bleeding a dangerous amount of blood. Mikoto was heavily injured, but it was obvious she had more of a chance.

She couldn’t see Enma and Mana anywhere.

Kushina worked fast, using her own blood, along with Minato’s and Mikoto’s, to draw a seal formula on a long, steady slate of hard soil. She dragged both of them into it and got to work.

“Deer, boar, monkey, rabbit, rooster, sheep, dog!” She chanted as she formed sign after sign. Her chakra enveloped the two and herself, connecting with the circle and making the symbols move. Their injuries healed quickly, and their blood was drawn into the soil which looked harder and more red with every instant. When she was done with the treatment, she pulled out a blank scroll and sealed the slate into it.

Both Minato and Mikoto were still heavily injured, meaning she hadn’t had enough stamina after that attack to heal them completely. Some of their wounds still dripped blood, and others were swollen and bruised.

She cried, pocketing the scroll.
“Dammit! What’s wrong with me!”

She jumped, as she realized Fugaku standing behind her. Scrambling to her feet, she stumbled back and away from him. When did he get here? How long had he been standing there?

His sharingan were activated, but not to check their chakra. He was just angry. Kushina was still crying when he looked at her, murder in his eyes.

He might have killed her with that look. He might have done so now. She wasn’t sure she could or would try to defend herself.

“You did this.” He stated.

She didn’t argue, which was the same as agreeing in this situation.

“You hurt them.” He looked at Minato and Mikoto. “Of course. I always thought you were strange. Of course you would do this. Of course he would try to stop you...”

“Fugaku, I—”

“Get out of here.” He ordered.

“What?”

“Get out of here!” He screamed, flinging his arm out to point at her. “This is all your fault! Minato and Mikoto almost died because of you! As long as you’re around, causing trouble, they’ll risk destroying themselves just to protect you. Now leave!”

He stomped over to her, and shoved her to the ground.

“And never, ever come back.” He glowered. “Or I will kill you.”

Kushina hesitated, but did drag herself to her feet. She stood and ran, far away from everything.

But she didn’t leave the village. She went to tell the hokage what she did. She didn’t like them, but if Mana and Enma were dead, then Minato and Mikoto could be blamed. People might accuse them of fighting and killing them, which would be the explanation for their wounds too.

She made her way through the hokage building in complete silence, which was why she overheard the elders.

“She’s a failure.”

She froze, curiousity and fear leading her to the door, behind which the elders were speaking.

“She can’t control herself.” Homura was saying. “There have even been times when she injured her own comrades.”

“It’s only a matter of time before she kills someone from the village.” Koharu agreed.

“Perhaps we should arrange for another jinchuuriki to replace her.” Danzo suggested.

She paled, a cold fist taking hold of her heart. But that would mean killing her, and turning someone else into jinchuuriki. They couldn’t be serious.

“You have a point, that is an option.” Koharu replied, not an ounce of guilt in her voice. “But she is an Uzumaki heiress. And she has a powerful ally.”

“Namikaze Minato.” Danzo said. “A geinus, the likes of which we only see every few decades. We can put him to use too.”

Kushina’s eyes widened. What?

“We can arrange an accident for her. Or rather, that can be the story.” Danzo explained. “We will tell her friend she was kidnapped by enemies, and her corpse discovered the following morning. But in fact we will bring her here, extract the Kyuubi using lady Mito’s book of sealing jutsu, and seal it away in a temporary holding chamber. Then we canturn the Namikaze boy into our new jinchuuriki later. With his talent, he’ll no doubt master the power. He already knows how to channel his anger, and point it in the right direction.”

Kushina took a step back from the door without making a sound. What was she hearing?! Were they seriously planning to… No! No, she wouldn’t let them!

She snuck away, and ran. No time to pack her things. She had to get out of the land of fire now, away from them, and Minato.

She stopped only when she had passed the final valley, the border. In a rush, too many things dawned on her.

She would never be hokage.

She was a rogue ninja now.

She would never see her friends again.

She would never see… Minato, ever again.

Sorry for the length. Could u read part of it, like say the first chapter? It's short. I want to know the pros and cons. If its just length, I will make an effort to not be so wordy. But is there anything else?
