Minato and Itachi are fairly equal but the scale tips towards Minato.

Minato and Itachi are in the same league. Both characters are severly overrated(some say Itachi>Sasuke,Kabuto,Nagato etc. while others say Minato>Obito,Nagato,Hashi etc.). To even consider either of them in the league og Madara,Obito or Kabuto is just stupid but back to the topic. Minato and Itachi have very high intellegnce with Minato having a talent for short-term plans and quick thinking while Itachi has a talent for long-term thinking and mental/external analysist. Jutsu wise, Itachi has alot more in his arsenal but Minato has more effective ones.

In the end, it all comes down to STAMINA. As we all know, Itachi really lacks the stamina to keep up in long-term fights which keeps him from being ranked higher. Mianto is way too fast for Itachi abilites to connect and isnt stupid enough to look into his eyes. The only technigue Minato has that can harm Itachi is rasengan and that can become useless when susanoo is activated. However, Itachi needs susanoo to protect himself from Minato and sausanoo is but a TEMPORARY defense. Itachi will eventually run out of stamina and he is doomed against Mianto.

Minato wins.

Well, in part 1 Kishi never intended for Hashi to be so important and strong as he is now ( we know nothing about 2nd hokage ).
Just imagine Hashi using his abilities that Madara displayed against the Shinobi in the war. Tell me how he beats that.
