Ok,i was watching a movie, and i was thinking about something

For those who don't know,An American consulnate is a small militarized area in every nation, that is a safe haven for Americans,if you aren't American and try to attack it you can be killed

now my question is this:lets say France decided to attack the Amereican consulnate and massacared everyone there(i know its not likely, but go with it)would that be almost the same as declaring war or start something major between the nations,if im wrong on anything here, please correct me

If I was president I would bomb the crap outta France for such an offense. Well assuming we knew who massacred our people.

I thought the only war in America was the war on terror? I'm pretty sure Obama would come to some sort of peace treaty with France before any massive war broke out, Obama's cool af! much better than our Shitty old David cameron -___-

I don't think it would be that bad that America would declare war.. Well depending on how many people attack, I guess :x that's a good question

A military base shouldn't even be placed in someone's elses country to begin with. It's like me walking into your house smacking your mom's ass and expecting a warm welcome.

No its different. Most countries have consulates from all over the world in their countries for foreign relations and diplomacy. If you're in a foreign country and need help whether it be a lost passport or legal issues you contact your consulate for help. Its essentially a mini-embassy.

You usually find them in capitals or busy tourist spots since thats where visitors would most likely be.

So to answer the original question, an organized military attack on a consulate would most likely be considered an act of war.

There are no military bases in France.

Hypothetically speaking however, a random slaughter of an entire base would pretty much be an equivalent Pearl Harbor. Actually, it'd be even worse. While no formal declaration of war was given by the attacking side; it was an act, therefore a (theoretical) declaration, of war. Even if it wasn't formal at first, it would spur a formal declaration.

Just imagine the uproar of average civilians in the U.S.

Yes, it would be war if the country itself attacked. If it was just a random group that wasn't associated with anyone then there would simply be a severe beat down. Now if the US found out that the country had set it up in some way, then that would be a political shit storm which could end in war.

There aren't really any 'rules' for a 'declared war' on the international scene. If, for example, Canada were to flip out and annex Alaska - they are, realistically, only threatening Alaska. It's their affiliation with the United States that would get people in California, Tennessee, Missouri, etc riled up.

So, if France were to attack a U.S. Consulate, it would really depend upon whether or not France declared an open war on the U.S. or the U.S. interpreted the act as being a declaration of war (or something worth going to war over).

My guess is that we'd probably start systematically destroying military assets of France if they were to do such a thing. Politicians might try to avoid using the term "war" - but bombs would most likely be dropping and special forces operatives would be doing some shooting... so it's subjective.
