Sorry if this has been made before, I'm not sure.
Why are people trying so hard to protect assault weapons from being banned? What will they use them for? If someone attacks your house, use a shotgun if need be. Could anyone give a different perspective or opinion on this?
Basically, there is no such thing as an "assault weapon."
For example, the "Assault weapons ban" enacted under the Clinton Administration banned a type of rifle that used a pistol-grip and 'military looking' stock. Another version of that same firearm - exact same barrel and weapon mechanics - that had a classic grip and stock was not banned.
There is no definition for an assault weapon, and such a category of weapon doesn't exist.
Now - why do I want a 6.8mm ACR with a 30 round magazine? Because I like the weapon and am proficient with weapons of its class.
Do I -need- that weapon?
Do you -need- a car with a 300 horsepower engine, racing tires, and a transmission designed to put that car at speeds more than double the legal speed limit of any highway in the U.S.?
That's considered a right - a pass-time as honored as drinking on tailgates. Both of which blatantly signatures of intent to break stated laws (speed limits and intoxicated driving).
Yet someone wants to dictate to me what a reasonable magazine capacity is for my firearm.
I'll have that discussion with them once the only legal vehicle on a car lot is a neutered Prius.
