I think this chapter is a little longer than it should be, but I hope you all still enjoy it :ilu:
The bell rang, and Janet began her journey outside of the school building. Immediately, the other girls began to cluster around her one by one as they all walked in unison. They began mumbling about cute boys and how excited they are for the summer, but Janet was getting a little annoyed.
"I don't know what you all are doing following me, but if this is your way of trying to persuade me to join your group: it's not working." She said.
The other girls stared at her. Violet stepped forward,
"No," Violet said, "You've got it all wrong."
"Oh really? Then why? Why are you all following me Violet?" Janet asked.
"First, you can call me V, and second it's because we're friends."
Janet sighed and turned around to walk straight into Vivian's firm, plump chest. She stepped back a little and blushed as the other girls laughed. Vivian looked down on Janet, the strands of her chocolate brown hair fell across her face as she smiled.
"Jan," Vivian said, "We know you are feeling a little intense right now, with all the news and what-not, but we need you to attend our summer facility. You're powers will start to grow now that you're eighteen, that'll only attract more attention."
Janet was about to say something to Vivian and the other girls in the most expressive tone to clarify that she was not going to attend their facility, but Brandon pulling up in the front of the school with the silver 2001 BMW he got for christmas held her tongue. Janet just smiled at Vivian and the other girls as a way of saying goodbye and ran to the car with Brandon.
Brandon drove for 2 miles to some "special" place he wanted to take Janet to celebrate their graduation from high school, surprisingly enough the "special" place was a Coffee and Donuts shop but Janet didn't care because she just wanted some time with her most trusted friend.
"So, you seemed stressed," Brandon said as Janet blankly stared at the flavor choices, "Can't decide between Red Velvet and Boston Creme?"
Janet remained quiet so Brandon sighed and continued her sarcastic rant.
"Well... If I were you, I'd go with Red Velvet. You just seem like that kind of gal to think Boston Creme is basic." He laughed and nudged her shoulder, "Remember when Nathan said that to us before he graduated?"
But Janet was still quiet, so he nudged her one more time.
"Dude, you're going to have to talk one way or another whether it's to me, or the donut man because we're next."
She finally snapped out of her daze.
"I'm sorry." Janet said, "I've just been really conflicted with all of this business with Vivian and Nicole and stuff."
The man behind the counter overheard them as they approached him.
"Excuse me, but did you say Vivian?" He asked.
"Yeah, I met her today." Janet replied.
"Oh!" The brown-skinned man shouted, "Well, any friend of Vivian is a friend of mine. Here, we have a special flavor of the day each day so you and your friend can take this one on the house!"
Janet and Brandon took the donuts and thanked the man for his kindness and sat down. The friends sat opposite of each other. Brandon watched Janet moping while Janet watched Brandon chuck a donut down his throat. Brandon grabbed her hand.
"Janet," He softly said, "Listen, you're going to just have to ignore them. What is the likelihood that you'll meet them again this summer? You've got college and the rest of your life to think about, just eat your donut and live it up. I didn't take you here to watch you soak a perfectly tasty donut in your sad-spirit."
Janet nodded, took a bite of the donut and looked Brandon in the eyes.
"You know what," She said, "You're right. I need to— to stop thinking of these girls and enjoy my life"
She smiled a little harder as she gripped Brandon's hand a little harder. But, her vision began to fade.
"Hey," Janet said, "Is— Is it raining inside?"
"What?" Brandon said out of confusion, but Janet collapsed face first on the table before answering.
"Target is down, move!" The man behind the counter said. Before Brandon knew it, a big bulging bald man stepped from behind the counter and grabbed Janet and Brandon in both his arms. He took them to the back of the restaurant and threw them against the cold donut dough processor.
"Ow." Brandon said as he rubbed his back.
The donut store owner stepped into the back.
"Good job, Rajah," he said, "Take the girl to the car in the back and tell Kyrinda that we'll be on our way soon with a drop off."
"Yes, Brent." Rajah said, as he walked towards Janet. Brandon forced himself up and stepped in front of Janet.
"L—leave her alone." he said.
"He clearly isn't unconscious, why is he back here?" Brent asked, "Dispose of him."
Quickly, Rajah pulled a knife out of back pocket and stabbed Bret in the stomach. The impact forced Brandon onto the ground and rendered him useless as they picked up Janet and moved on outside.
Once the duo reached the exit, there was a mysterious figure waiting for them outside.
"Oh my god..." Brent said while drawing out his frustration. "Who in the world are you?"
The black refused to speak and ran towards to the two.
"Rajah, charge." Brent said as Rajah power charged towards the figure.
Rajah threw a punch towards the boy, but he grabbed him fist and flipped himself onto his arm. After landing, the figure kicked Rajah across his face, but he wasn't effected.
Rajah's neck turned red and purple, as if it were some rash. Rajah grabbed the figure by his collar and threw him into the wall. As soon as he impacted, Rajah appeared in front of him and kneed him in the chest. The force threw his hoodie off to reveal Jet's blonde locks covering his face. He was bleeding from the beatdown.
Rajah took Jet by his collar once again and pulled him close to his face.
"Any last words, boy?" Rajah asked.
"J—just two." Jet said. He pulled out a syringe and stabbed it into Rajah with as much force as he could. Rajah attempted to throw the final punch at Jet's face, but Jet maneuvered around his fist and grabbed his arm. After he listed his palm from Rajah's, it revealed a purplish-red rash now, similar to the one of his arm.
"Vivian, now!" Jet shouted. From the top of the building connecting to the donut shop, Vivian jumped downward with her fist extended to Rajah. The sound of thunder came as she connected to Rajah's face, slamming him into the ground and causing dust and rocks to fill the air. As she got up, there was the sound of a car speeding off and Janet was gone, but Vivian wasn't worried.
Brent was driving the black car down the highway as fast as he could with Janet in the backseat. As he sped up, his headlights revealed a girl ahead of him, so he beeped the horn. Soon, the lights revealed that the girl was Violet, so he sped up.
As soon as he got close enough, Violet transformed into a bear and stomped the hood of the car, forcing Brent out of the front window and suddenly facing Norma.
He looked at Norma to see her glowing like a white, transparent being. He seemed scared as she walked closer.
"No..." He said, "No!"
Norma walking into his body, and suddenly his eye color changed from blue to hazel.
"Are you in?" Nicole's voice echo'd throughout Norma's head.
"Yeah, tell everyone it's done."
When Janet woke up, she was sitting next to Brent, who was Norma at the time. She screamed but Violet told her to be quiet because it was only Norma. Janet looked forward to see a hurt Jet in the front seat of the blue van and Vivian driving. She looked back to see Nicole sitting next to Jill in the back waving her hands over Brandon.
"What happened to him!" Vivian yelled.
"Shhhhh..." Violet said, "Jill needs concentration. Your friend got stabbed back there protecting you. He'll be fine in a couple of days, but it's best that we leave him to Jill for now."
Janet nodded and turned back. Nicole poked her head through the two headrests of the middle row, where Janet was, and whispered,
"So... Did you reconsider the summer facility?"
Janet turned to reveal tears flowing down her face as she nodded.
