He is the symbol of the naruto moral hardwork>genius. Not naruto. This guy no genjutsu no ninjitsu and he still solo'd Madara till the point of near death. Dont look to Naruto and think 'ooh i can relate to naruto he wasnt a genius now he's o.p' No just no. MIGHT GAI is that guy (pardon the pun). Naruto the convenient reincarnation of the sages son and child of prophecy is not that guy. The only way to relate to Naruto now is how he went from loneliness to friends. Nothing more nothing less. The minute he was summoned to the toad mt. place hardwork Naruto passed away. R.I.P. That old ramen guy(who will be final villain) was the last to see hardwork Naruto as he tried to take his last bites of ramen.

R.I.P NARUTO .

One could even argue that neither the hard-work, nor the making friends aspect to naruto are his own. Ashura had those qualities and ashura inherited Naruto, giving him those qualities.
In other words, the moment Ashura inherited Naruto he was turned into a genius of hard and making friends. Nothing that Naruto did in the past was strictly speaking his achievement, but rather Ashura's.

In fact, let's just rename the manga "Ashura's heir" instead.

Naruto was not meant to highlight hardwork, regardless for a character who has a theme of "never give up" "take the hard way" he had a lot of shortcuts, destined prophecies, advantages.

He was still meant to be an underdog, an "underdog" who did not work his way (much) is a walking contradiction.

I agree, Gai and Lee are the real embodiment of something called Hard-work as they started from the bottom, from absolutely nothing.
