Are you seriously comparing Guy's Taijutsu with Kakashi's? We're talking here about 3 Tomoe Itachi, which hasn't got many ninjutsu whatsoever. Take a look at Lee vs Gaara fight, the speed is the same. Itachi, with his 3 Tomoe Sharingan can't keep up with that.

Gai doesn't even need to touch Itachi physically to defeat him lol, plus I'm sure all of Itachi's genjutsu would have negative effects against Gai since the gates inflicts pain/damage upon the users body which means instant negation against genjutsu. Keeping an eye on his feet and predicting his next moves means Itachi won't be able to use Tsukuyomi on Gai nor physically force him to look into his eyes. Tsukuyomi Fodderised.

Itachi vs Gai in CQC would just end in Itachi's defeat since he isn't the close combat type, especially against Gai. The most Itachi can do is evade and create a wide gap between each other in order to pull off jutsu, though Gates enhanced Gai, no BASE Gai can easily close the distance by speed blitzing Itachi and give him NO chance to pull off ninjutsu. Taijutsu Fodderised.

Gai's base speed - weights + Gates mode = Faster than Raikage hands down. Cba to find proof atm though Rock Lee was able to bypass Gaara's sand which is said to be instantaneous, during Raikage's battle with Sasuke WHILE in his Lightning Armour, Gaara was able to block the Raikage's attack before it could even reach Sasuke. Gai's years of experience and training means he's way faster and stronger than Rock Lee, and since Raikage was able to dodge Amaterasu this would mean Gai should be able to do similar since he has pure muscle memory and great reaction speed. Ninjutsu/Amaterasu Fodderised.

BASE GAI was even able to blast Foddara Uchiha and his Susanoo with his Hirudora, so Itachi is balls.
