Asuma wins imo.

I honestly can't take Mifune seriously. I have no idea how strong he's supposed to be, he only uses a sword and his character is as unecessary as it can be.

Would say Asuma, He can definitely fight close range with Mifune, since he was considered practically the best close combat ninja in Konoha, Mifune really does nothing but use a Sword since he is infact a Samurai..Asuma actually has a wider range of Jutsu, even though it is not really wide at all.

I don't think Asuma can try a speed blitz on Sasuke like Mifune did, so it's safe to say that Mifine is faster and has the better CQC skills. Asuma also struggled against Kisame back in part 1 who is not considered that fast. Asuma has more ninjutsu but that won't do much when Mifune can just dodge it. Burning Ash will be the only chance that Asuma has at even catching Mifune. Other than that he loses.
