Paying for positive coverage is not the same thing as paying to bash the competitor.
So, I think; there's nothing wrong with that practice.
According to a leaked copy of the full legal agreement behind the promotion, video creators "may not say anything negative or disparaging about Machinima, Xbox One, or any of its Games" and must keep the details of the promotional agreement confidential in order to qualify for payment. In other words, to get the money, video makers have to speak positively (or at least neutrally) about the Xbox One, and they can't say they're being paid to do so.
Xbox one graphics capabilities is inferior to the ps4 Lol
Lol, OMG! Idc, Im still extremely happy with my choice. Besides Xbox One has more possibilities for the future. And Titanfall.
Ouch. Not good Microsoft. Was it really even needed? I mean, the Xbox one is pretty successful so far. But anyways, this is really bad press for them as it was a bad action to take. I'm sure that'll reflect on something.
It's sad really. You can see the insecurity in the company when they resort to these kind of things. This is the kind of thing to make someone feel insecure about buying one since if they're going to resort to this, then is the Xbox really that good? Why should they have to go to these lengths just to get a good word out about it? This is why I always say to go to forums for reviews and not any source that could be altered by big companies/Media.

Also, who's to say Sony hasn't done the same?

I've got both.
So far I'm a lot happier with my Xbox One, than I am with my PS4.
So your console bashing is completely pointless.
Until you've given both consoles a proper go, you shouldn't even compare the 2.
A true gamer looks forward to seeing what both consoles can show off.
Saying "Mine is better. yours is rubbish" is something a 12 year old, who can only get one console, would do.
Alright, big boy Lol
Xbox One is inferior to PS4 in terms of Hardware. Period.
PS plus is cheaper than Xbox Membership, and it gives away free games monthly. It also gives out huge discounts
Xbox one has Kinect and is overall a better multimedia device, however that is completely useless seeing as how PS4 is overall a better gaming device.
The largest difference between the two however is the games library, which is completely up to individuals preference.
OT: Microsoft has been pretty desperate when it comes to Xbox 1 ever since they changed it after its presentation. They should of have either never introduced something if they were not sure of it, or sticked with their decisions. ( This is purely from the Business perspective mind you )
Saying the Hardware is inferior is irrelevant.
The 360 was actually inferior to the PS3. The PS3 was a MUCH more powerful machine.
Didn't make any difference with the sales. The 360 still outsold it.
The PS4 is a pure gaming console.
Where as the Xbox has turned into a Gaming console (slightly less powerful than the PS4) / Media device. It still has all of the features of a gaming console, but by buying it you get a lot more with it that you do not get on PS4. So I still think the price is justified.
Like you say - the big difference between the 2 is the games available on each platform.
& personally I find the Xbox titles to be more appealing at the moment. Killzone was amazing, but the rest didn't impress me.
I'm not trying to get into the pathetic argument of "Which console is better".
I enjoy them both equally, and just giving my opinion from someone who owns both consoles and does not prefer one over the other.
They both have their own positives, and both have their own negatives. That will always be the case.
But there will always be people that start with the "PS4 = Master Race!" or "Xbox One = Master Race!" without even looking at the other console. (like I said - normally kids who cant buy one themselves and only get the choice of 1 at Christmas) But just because 1 console is good, doesn't mean the other one is crap. It is possible to have 2 good same-gen consoles around at the same time.
Guys, stop starting arguments. This thread isn't about which console is better. Also, the people most of you guys are arguing with, aren't even trying to argue. Which console is better is directly on opinion because they both do different things and they both have things that the other cannot do. This thread is about what Microsoft did, not about how the PS4 has a better APU etc. Also, some facts about hardware I've read here is completely false like the overclocking the cpu to match the PS4's. They did OC it but The PS4's APU has more CU's, it would take a drastically high oveclock to match it if you're overclocking something with less CU's to try and reach it's performance. I have my AMD 6300 CPU overclocked from 3.5ghz to 4.8ghz on a hyper 212 evo, that's a very good over clock.

Overclock:You must be registered for see links
So I know very well how overclocking works. 1.65ghz to 1.75ghz does not equal the power output the PS4's CPU with the more CU's it has. Anyone who thinks it to be true doesn't understand hardware and shouldn't be blabbering out false information. The Xbox One chip has 14 CUs, 12 of which are turned on, while the PS4 has 18 active CUs out of a 20. Beating a more higher tech CPU through overclocking is going to usually (90% of the time) take more than just a measly little 100mhz. Honestly, 100mhz is going to hardly even give maybe 2-3 extra fps in gaming considering developers who code games for the system will specifically be coding it for that hardware anyways. They both are for different things, if I was going traveling a lot, and if I gamed on console, I'd get an Xbox one. If I was just going to sit something in a corner and never touch it, I'd get a PS4. If I just wanted to pay for internet and not cable etc, I'd get an Xbox One. You see it's different things that make each system better in ways the other isn't. Xbox One gamers will not only be getting something they can use for gaming, but something that Microsoft is trying their best to beat apple TV, so they'll be getting a lot, as they'll be getting most likely what ever Apple Tv has so far but better. In terms of only gaming, the PS4 will do better, but the ones who buy an Xbox One have their reasons because it does more than just gaming. You aren't going to change someone's opinion just like how they aren't going to change yours.
... but you prefer the Xbox One, yes?
