Mgmt can hold a candle to the Beatles

Before you read this remember that preference is subjective, nothing I say is set in stone feel free to disagree but not to flame.

Now, my point is a very simple one, that MGMT is similar to the Beatles and I think the two are equals in lyrical depth. I am not saying that MGMT is greater that the beatles.

What they have in common

• Psycadelic sound, deep lyrics, drugger vibe, hippy-esque sound, Experimented with music

Differences

• MGMT uses synth, Beatles enjoyed more mainstream success, Beatles have (a ton) more fans, MGMT focuses on social interaction whereas the Beatles focus on Peace and love.
  
  So what I am saying is that MGMT< The Beatles but the two can be mentioned in the same conversation without your ears beginning to bleed in rage and disbelief. With time and development I would like to see MGMT improve and possibly be held as one of the greats in our generations music.

being a naruto base regular im sure you know how hype can kind of snowball... i mean i feel like people say they like certain things just because theyre supposed to. because every time ive tried to give the beatles a fair shake i just end up asking myself "what the hell are they even talking about?"

No. In 50 years no one will be listening to MGMT. The Beatles weren't just a band they were a symbol of the time period and it would not have been the same without them. They actually changed the world. The songs aren't just songs, they have become statements.

Ive never been a fan of the Beatles. I understand that they have a huge audience and I respect them for the impact they had on the time and in music but I prefer MGMT over the Beatles. They do have similar sounds but I feel as though MGMT has a more extreme electronic background.

You don't know that, every song makes a statement, that why we consider music part of our culture. MGMT's lyrics are just as relevant today as the Beatles lyrics were in the 60's
