Metal Gear Solid V Question

I just wanted to know if someone knows what time period this game is taking place (before, after, in between MGS3)? I'm not too aquainted with MGS 3 but I think its safe to assume that this snake is big boss after seeing a young ocelot and the eyepatch?

Also how do you guys feel about it being an open world?

Seems like it takes place a couple of years after. Maybe the 80s.

Seems pretty badass. I feel like the AI would be more aware and more attentive but it looks really good so far.

I believe it either takes place some time in the 80's. It is after MGS 3 and follows the events after Peace Walker.

Also, I'm very excited for this game. It is my favorite franchise.
