After blowing away someone's ridiculous argument about medical jutsu being completely useless for combat and healing in another thread, I remembered that not too long ago, I discovered what I believed were similarities between it and the byakugan.
1) Both appear to use Yin and Yang chakra.
2) Both appear to be precise and can attack pressure points and vital areas
3) Both grant heightened strength and dexterity by focusing chakra in the limbs
4) Both emit sharp, blade-like forces
5) The clans they come from were allied in the beginning and are distantly related to each other.
6) Their names are also similar in that one translates to white eye and the strongest form of medical jutsu is named white strength and both are focused in the brain.
7) The full name of Byakugou is white strength seal, which gathers condenses and seals massive amounts of chakra into the brain while byakugan seals chakra points with the 64 and 128 palm techniques. To add to this, when Byakugan performs these two techniques, a yin yang seal is shown beneath the hyuuga's feet.
Of course the byakugan doesn't appear to be able to heal, while medical jutsu seemingly has no transparent or 360 degree vision, but what if the byakugan originally could heal and still can while an evolved form of the the byakugou could grant such vision?
Could medical jutsu have been created by studying or observing the properties of the byakugan and thus be like an artificial version of byakugan that can be learned rather than inherited?
