Med-nin

I've been wondering around the rules and etc, but couldn't find the answer. -.-

From what I've seen, you need to be a special jounin to use medjutsu, or am I wrong? But how do I start learning how to be a med-nin in the first place? Or does it go hand in hand with ussual training?
