Alright so I finally just finished watching Death Note and im so disappointed in the ending. The way he had that total crazy pshyco meltdown that lead to his death surprised me. Funny thing is i already knew he was gonna die but i always had the hope that Light wouldn't die just cuz i was a fanboy for this past week lol.
But anyways that aside, i just wanted to know how you guys felt about the ending? Maybe ya wanted the ending to be differet?
it's because light thought of himself as a god , he never thought he'll lose or die , and him defeating L was the ultimate achievement therefore he didn't expect it.
it just show you how realistic the story is , and the manga ends in a different way btw.
i really liked the anime ending tho , light was really an outstanding character.

lool is it just me or did you feel like he should of died in a more open space, like it was just some random staircase with sun shining through. Unless there was a symbolic reference i didnt notice?

Firstly, that he felt himself above death itself, assuming that he could escape with his life and continue his plan onward.
And Secondly, that despite what it appeared, Light was always alone in his schemes. Even what might have been his best friend, Ryuk, was left behind in his desperate attempt to survive. He even gave direct orders to Ryuk, forgetting that he was a neutral party in Light's plans.
As I recall, that video mostly speculates based on hindsight, already knowing what would actually happen. There was no reason for Light to change his plans without knowing that Mikami ****ed up.
His plan was perfect for what he knew at the time. Especially considering that he had outplayed Near with his duplicate Death Note trick.

I've seen that before.

Those are good points you make. However, why would Light would hiding the Death Note in a bank (or wherever it was hidden, haven't seen Death Note in a while) would prevent Near from finding it, considering that Mikami was already under suspicion for deviating from his usual schedule that he runs by. If memory serves me right, Light was aware that Near knew Mikami was the other Kira, and thus should've made steps to ensure the Death Note's safety from Near's hands. As soon as Near attained the real Death Note, he won.

He knew there were suspicions, but he had no idea that Mikami deviated from his routine, which is what tipped off Near to the real DN's location in the first place.
Light just assumed that Mikami continued on with his schedule up until the day he died. If he had known, Light would have immediately assumed Near had the real DN.

True, but nvm the plan, I doubt he would even have the thought of coming up with that plan as like you said he already had the "perfect" plan used in the anime.

starting episode 3 I wanted Light to win, I was really happy when he outsmarted "L", but then those 2 outsmarted Light, unfortunately. But the thing that he got crazy before dying is better than him being captured I think

Death is always the perfect ending to a psychopath. Of course, it's inevitable to escape death since everyone will eventually die but Light deserved an early sentence for being a crazy, mass murderer.
If that's the video I watched once, it mainly explains how Light should have told Mikami to snap a pic of the note and send it to Misa. Which wouldn't work either way, as Misa was under surveillance up until the meeting's day and there's also the fact that Mikami didn't know Misa, and the latter didn't have her memories, pages don't suffice to bring her memory back as it was shown when Remu touched her with a page, yet she couldn't remember a thing, and Remu stated "This won't be enough to bring her memories back, but should enable her to see me", even if Mikami sent the whole note, he was still the owner, and Misa can only get her memories back (permanently) when she becomes the owner (as Light needed Higuchi dead before he dropped the note, shortly before L's death), that can only happen in two ways:
1- If Mikami died.
2- If Mikami gave up his ownership of the Death Note.
Both would fail miserably, as Mikami and his eyes were needed to kill Near - not to mention that Gevanni (the SPK member) was following Mikami 24/7 up until the meeting's day. If he grabbed the Death Note, and sent it to Misa, it would discovered in one of two ways:
1- Gevanni was tailing him, so if he saw Mikami taking the note or its pages away, he would tell Near, who would cancel or postpone the meeting, either would cause Light's plan to fail.
2- Misa was under surveillance, it would be discovered immediately after it arrived to her location, and would result in both Misa and Mikami arrested, and thus, Light would have nothing to work with.
And there isn't the option of communicating Mikami to send the note as soon as SPK stops spying Misa, because Takada was the medium between Mikami and Light, with her death, they couldn't communicate with each other.
All that wasn't even needed though. The fact is that Light wasn't even close to being as careful as he was in his "fight" against L. if he was, when Light told Takada to request Mikami to send her pages, create a fake note of his own and keep the real one safely hidden; He could have just told Mikami to keep some pages with him at all times, just in case (in his wallet or inside his shoes), that way, Mikami wouldn't act independently and head to the bank to kill Takada, thus revealing the existence of a fake note; He could have just used the aforementioned pages to kill her without leaving his house, and even if SPK somehow found out about the fake note, and then faked the real one, it would still be of no use, as Mikami could just write in the hidden pages instead.
