I also believe Snake isn't on Mcgonagalls level. I love snape and I know he is strong, but Mcgonagall has far more experience. And she has her own personal army of statues in the castle.

I have read all the books and based off all I have gathered from them it seems that Mcgonagall is slightly ahead of snape. During the war at hogwash she ran thru death eaters making it to the great hall at the end. She also was one of the few people with the balls to fight Voldemort (though she had the help of Kingsley and slughorn)
