Math vs Reading. Which do you like better ?

Math most definitely, if I didn't suck so much at it I would have chosen it instead of English Literature.

I know what Math has done and I appreciate it, but not all of its necessary for the average person. Most people don't want to become scientists, engineers, or algebra teachers. School's put algebra and such under general education, you don't need to a+b/x to the fifth power if your just going for your average education or a field that doesn't require that type of thinking at all. That's why I think schools should make those classes electives or advance courses for people who need to take it for their field the want to enter or people who want to take it.

By that 2016, most top 30 most growing jobs will involve high math.

Math by far. There is a sense of unknown bliss that I get when I can differentiate a really long Calculus question, or when I can reverse integrate a derivative from it's original form. I love reading as well but it doesn't come close to math for me.

Every electronic device and science evidence (physics) you see and hear about, maths have always played biggest role.

OT: Since I major in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, math is my thing. Although I tend to read as well.

I like only geometry part of maths. It was my fave lesson in high school and math was my least fave.

I like reading more i guess. But i liked geometry more than reading it is just that i hate variation/integral parts of math.

For me it's Math

What does this got anything to do with my post? Mahesvara is trying to downplay math's influence on society, in which I showed him otherwise. And I was typing as in writing, this thread is about reading; there is a difference between the two.

Reading can help develop ones understanding in literature and it can also advance ones skills in presenting themselves through speech and communication, so of course I would choose reading.

I see no interest in a bunch of numbers and equations. At the end of the day, you are just trying to figure out why this equation equals this equation. Nothing significant about it.

If people can understand the basic math areas like multiplication and division then I see no reason for students to have to go through high school with a certain criteria set for them like "you have to take this amount of math classes because if you don't then you don't graduate." I find that completely irrelevant.

In my opinion, reading is a lot more important than math.

This is tough. I am far better at reading subjects, but I find them boring. I am fairly average at Maths but I enjoy Math-based subjects more. Having said that, reading fiction is a large hobby of mine.

I think that Math wins but mainly because I enjoy Chemistry and Physics, both of which are very Mathematical.
