I have homework that is due tomorrow in my stats class we just started two weeks ago. I need help on two problems, I just don't seem to see the answer. If you could help me it would mean a lot! thanks!

1. Determine the next most probable term in the following list
3,6,9,15,24,39

2. What is the most probable number in this list (Hint: Think about a clock with chimes)
12,1,1,1,2,1,3

Thank you guys!

The first one is a Fibonacci sequence. Add up the previous two numbers to get the next one.

first one uis, 3+0=3+3= 6 +3 =9+3+3= 15 +3+3+3=24+3+3+3+3+3= 39 +3+3+3+3+3+3=57

or maybe not

second one isoff the bat id say 1. but i dont feel like thinking anymore but considering every time the clock hits 1 2 or 3 its also hitting 12 id say 12 is most probable

The Fibonacci sequence begins with 0 and 1 by definition.

- - - - - - - - - - (cut here)- - - - -

First: 63, add previous two #'s together

Second : 1,4,1,5...

follow the hours of the clock after every "1"

The second one isn't asking for a sequence, it's asking for the most probable number already within the list. Statistically, it's one.

i thought it was asking when at 12 aclock 1 aclock 1 aclock 1 aclock 2 aclock and 3 aclock which number is pointed at the most, and at 1 aclock 2 3 and 12 aclock the one pointer is at 12 and the other is at whatever respective time it is, so no matter what its always pointing at 12 aclock for 1 2 3 and 12 making 12 most probable but im probly wrong lol

This is why I hate math, I didn't understand a thing of this post xD

The second one is "1" cuz the pattern is the position of the hour hand every one hour.

1. Determine the next most probable term in the following list
3,6,9,15,24,39

This is classic pattern recognition.

3+6 = 9
6+9 = 15
9+15 = 24

So on, and so forth.

2. What is the most probable number in this list (Hint: Think about a clock with chimes)
12,1,1,1,2,1,3

Thank you guys!

The "most probable" number in the list is 1. There are 4 ones and 3 non-ones, each of which is a unique appearance.

The -next- "most probable" number in the sequence is 1.

12 chimes on the hour.
half-hour.
1 chime on the hour.
half-hour.
2 chimes on the hour.
half-hour.
3 chimes on the hour.
half-hour.

The idea, here, is that 12 is actually the highest number in a revolving cycle and they want you to pick up on the idea that you witnessed the end of that cycle and can see that it is repeating.

Of course if you quoted the question correctly, then they are not asking the 'right' question if they are looking for "complete the pattern" type lessons.
