Well, I'm not gonna scroll through all of these posts so sorry if I'll recommend something that's already been said.
There are some real masterpieces out there, but for an anime to appeal to everyone? Practically impossible.

Here are some anime that may or may not deserve to be called masterpieces.

Death Note - Many say it's not a masterpiece due to what happens after a certain something but I still think it's a fantastic series worthy of being called a masterpiece

Code Geass - 20 episodes in I didn't get the hype at all, thought it was just OK, but after watching a little more I really, really thought it was amazing.

Clannad + Clannad After Story - Simply, amazing. The happiest and saddest anime I have ever seen and will likely remain that way, forever.

Shinsekai Yori - I wouldn't exactly call this a masterpiece but it is without a doubt a fantastic series.

FMAB - Not much to say really, just overall an amazing series.

Fate is a master piece.

If by Fate you mean Fate/Stay night, then I completely disagree with you.
Fate/Stay night is certainly a very good anime, but to call it a masterpiece? No, not at all.

Nah, not the anime. The Visual Novel. I agree that the anime isn't much. A shame that it had to get the worst possible director. Not to mention that they skipped the first route and just went straight away to adapting the second one.

Well, a masterpiece is just a personal opinion. I might find [X] Anime/Manga pure garbage, but you might find it to be the GOAT.

You can only say something is a masterpiece for yourself, not for others, just like you cant say "Anime#1 > Anime#2 and thats a fact" since its all about taste.People can go on all day about how one anime did something better than the other but at the end of the day for you the thing you liked more is obviously better for you.Odds are there is someone who prefers your least fav. anime over your favorite.

Did u prefer Fate Stay Night over Fate Zero?

So far i prefer Zero...

Let's say that Zero had better masters than Rin's arc (UBW).

Zero (Grown ups)
UBW (Teenagers)
HF (?)

Fate/Stay Night VN is better than Fate/Zero, yes. In terms of story-telling, characterization, symbolism, likeability of the characters, etc. Although, Zero is pretty great too and I don't really like comparing them since they are one story to begin with. Zero enriches the events that led up to Fate/Stay Night, the main story, after-all and it's a lot more sensible and enjoyable after you've seen Stay Night.

I'm assuming you haven't read the VN, yet? F/SN's Masters are more fleshed out, more likeable and over-all have a better grasp of the situation they face themselves in, not to mention their characterization is more mature despite being teenagers.

But Zero is not supposed to have good characterization in the first place. That wasn't it's purpose after-all.

Just play both Saber's and Rin's routes first. The UBW anime messed up in a lot of things or simply left things out which are extremely important.

Not yet but i have downloaded the VN on my PC, i just need to run it and play it whenever i feel like it.

The master of zero imho made more impact in me than the ones in rin's router, UBW, it had that chemistry on me and i haven't seen that chemistry on UBW yet. Although i have planned to play the VN soon.

Fate > UBW > HF >Fate/hollow ataraxia

Because there's no chemistry in the anime, really. They kinda messed up some characterization and relationships in the anime. For an example, Shirou is too passive and arrogant in the anime - gets beaten up by Rin a lot - while in the VN, he's a snarky calculating person and trolls Rin a lot. They're like water and fire in the VN. They bring out each other's flaws or likeable character traits and present them to the reader.

Stay Night Masters are more likeable and better characterized quite a bit.

Yeah i noticed that but they seriously act like that in the VN? I would love to see that @bold.

Mhm. He's a lot different. Anime doesn't give you his internal monologues or just leaves things out and paints a wrong picture of him. He's a pretty complex character with multiple layers onto his characterization and he's a lot more likeable as a person. He's still kind of dense to honest feelings, however that's because (slight spoilers below, but the anime hinted it in episode 8):

He lacks function as a normal human. Doesn't quite understand honest human feelings to the point that is borderline sociopathic behaviour. Although, a more appropriate description would be that he is behaving more so as a weapon than a human.

As a writer and a fan of the Fate series, I have to defend Zero on all these fronts (and the great Urobutcher, who wrote it). lol

As a prequel explaining what we saw in Stay Night, you couldn't possibly do better than Zero. The story was amazing and left virtually nothing out, the characterization for all the new characters was phenomenal (Rider, seriously?), and as far as likability goes, alot of these characters were meant to be detestable (i.e. Ryunosuke) and those that weren't were very likable, or at least made you want to root for them. They were very fleshed out and what does maturity and how well they grasped the seriousness of the Grail Wars have to do with how good a cast they were? Pretty much all of Stay Night's cast prepared heavily for the war, which kinda makes them one-dimensional as a whole, whereas Zero had numerous backgrounds and reasons for taking part in the war that made each of them unique (one of them even had no knowledge of magic and just accidentally summoned their servant). I think the cast of Stay Night is great, definitely, but looking at the big picture, Zero's was so much better (even for the characters that carried over, like Kotomine and Saber).

And again, as a writer, no story should ever NOT have good characterization (which Zero did), no matter what its "purpose" is.
