The term masterpiece is and always will be a subjective matter.

One man's Citizen Kane may be another's Planet Nine from Outer Space.

Someone's Stanley Kubrick will be somebody else's Uwe Boll.

Your Marlin Brando may be my Adam Sandler... you get the point.

And attempting to rank notable works or individuals and finding the superior one is a futile act.

You have your tastes and preferences, I have mine, and if we're both rational human being, those views are not going to change within the length of several internet arguments.

From all the ones I've seen, I consider Code Geass and FMA: Brotherhood masterpieces. They are amazing all the way through, both are ones I can watch over and over and over again.

One Piece has that potential for me but I'll see where it ends. But One Piece is a manga that's perfect for me so my bias might be in effect here

Edit: Samurai Champloo meets this criteria for me too. Plot, characters, soundtrack, I'm in love with it all. Currently re-watching with my roommate and he literally got upset I was gone all day from home cause we only got to watch one episodes of Samurai Champloo Lol

Well most masterpieces are biased and everyone likes a different genre or story so you can't expect their masterpieces to be yours. If you really know what you like you could narrow down to specific story or type of stories. I like adventure anime/manga. Mushishi was excellent for me but most people find it boring. Though I like the story and universe of one piece than HxH, the art and characters and seriousness of HxH makes it better for me. Baccano is another masterpiece.

To OP: If you want a masterpiece find the best anime/mangas you like and what part you liked most search for it. There are masterpiece TV shows/movies like LOTR too that you could try. But there may be nothing specific you like so just wait maybe in the future there'll be a story like that.

HxH is a better anime than One piece Facts..

Maybe One piece will surpass it in the future or Fall flat like Naruto

But in the year #2015 HxH>>OP.

So? OP manga > HxH 2011 anime

OT: OP is a masterpiece IMO.

Anyone here consider Clannad: After Story a masterpiece? It's the top 6th anime on MAL, and adored by pretty much everyone there. I haven't seen it, but I'm really not a sucker for ''the feels'', as so many people are.

Well, everyone has their own opinion on what consummates a masterpiece, so no one can really say if one is or not. I personally don't think any exist, even my favorites series, but I've seen a few I think come extremely close.

- Cowboy Bebop
- Steins;Gate
- Monster
- Code Geass
- Neon Genesis Evangelion
- Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
- Mushishi

@Ambivalence - It's definitely among the best anime out there (THE best where romance and drama are concerned), but no, it has more than enough flaws to denounce it being a masterpiece.

It depends on whether or not you're willing to rate anime/manga as 10 when they deserve it. If you say no anime is perfect and only rate anime/manga out of 9. A 9 is basically a 10 on your scale. So yes, masterpieces do exist. Most of the ones I was gonna mention are already listed.

Also Hunter will always be > One Piece. No true anime/manga fan can deny this.

I did,
One Piece>>>>>>>HXH by miles
Oda>>>>>>>Trollgashi

OT: i don't know but i wouldn't considered The Fate series by type moon a masterpiece, it was average at best, the one that Urobuchi made is 100 times better.

Do tell how is anything that Urobuchi dished out in Zero, that very much depends on the context from Stay Night, better than Stay Night.

Well, you're telling me it would be a waste of time to write what you think, but the fact that you posted ''Zero is better than SN'' in the first place tells me that you wanted your opinion to be known. Unless you thought it would be convenient if everyone here never read the VN and just agreed Zero is better.

You wanted to have your opinion known by posting, yes, and what I did by replying was acknowledging your opinion. But when you tell me you have no intention of elaborating because I wouldn't listen right after I reply that just makes me think you were either baiting, wanted just the people who agree to acknowledge it or are having second thoughts about wanting your opinion to be known.

I mean, the fact that your statement was aimed as a reply to me and Noto praising Fate should have already told you that one of us was going to reply.

Edit: Meh, whatever. If you have no intention of discussing it, I might as well go do something else.

My post is not aimed at you LOL i don't even see your post, its for the thread starter since he seems to put a great deal of faith in SN, I just stated what i think and if you're not happy with that then the problem is on you.
