The main villain was an abomination. Ugly as hell and not even in a cool way. It's like massashi kishimoto picked up akatsuki and uchihas shitty leftovers and morphed them into this guy. This guy has nothing at all that makes him unique or that seperates him from orochimaru, uchiha and akatsuki. He is simply a freak. Instead he wants to bring back akatsuki which he has no relation too and he is obsessed with itachi which is never explained. He even called sasuke a disgrace to uchiha?? This guy isn't even a ****ing uchiha man. This whole gaiden was worse then ****ing filler. It felt like one of the franchise's games shitty original stories. Take uzumaki chronicals for example. That bad. Masashi Kishimoto did not put any work in this guy. It's likenthe ghost of all their past enemies came back to haunt them. Maybe. Just maybe since boruto the movie is being set up as the true finali, Massashi Kishimoto will end this mess properly. Maybe he will attempt to capture what this series was in part one. He can do it with this new generation. But if you succeed. Please dont ruin it by milking it after.

Take a good luck at DBZ, the canon fv was kid buu, hella ugly and ****in stupid but yet he was a very good villain, idk why y'all complain, if you don't agree with a certain manga or anime then don't watch or read it, there are thousand others.

He didn't want to revive akatskui in the sense of its former self he wanted the essence of akatskui to live on so conflict and thus evolution could continue.

Madara was more akin to a tragic villain as he was moved by his goal to make the world a better place.

But,shins ideology is somethign that was never touched upon in naruto yet.
