It will be a very entertaining game but in my opinion, I don't see it as 'Game of 2012'. We still have a long way to go this year for games that can take that spot. Personally, I think ME3 won't even be that competitive with some of the other games that are supposed to release later this year.

Its definitely possible, top 5 is almost a guarantee. But there are some really good games coming out this year so we'll have to wait and see.

Mass Effect 2 won game of the year, and it had great competition. Not mention it came out early that year, but still won. I can understand your opinion of thinking it wont win, but to say something like it wouldn't be that competitive, honestly doesn't make sense. Its biggest competitors are probably GTA V, Bioshock Infinite, and RE6. As much as I love Halo, not even that could win since...well....FPS never win GOTY.

Don't forget Max Payne 3. If they nail both story and multiplayer, then that game too is on the list. The physics that have been shown in trailers so far have been wicked.

Mass Effect can only be a downer because of our high expectations. Wait until you've played the full game.

AC 3, can be a candidate, but not better. Considering there has been one every year since AC2 and none have come close yet U_U
Hopefully the new one will exceed expectations.

Actually it's been 1.5 years since AC2 xD and just check the trailer and there's more information out there.. this one is sure to beat Brotherhood/Revelations by far
But I just watched the official launch trailer for ME3 they released a couple of days ago and it gave me a huge nerdgasm >_<

Don't get me wrong, I'm in love with the series, but AC2 has been the best of the series so far(storyline at least) and it was even more fun in ACB, but didn't do as well, and ACR did the worst. But by the looks of it, AC3 looks to be the best. The biggest + has to be the changes being made to gameplay, and having a new character, new timeline etc.
But the fact is that Mass Effect hasn't faltered and doesn't have much competition when it comes to GOTY. Besides the few that I named earlier. (GTA V, RE6, Bioshock, and maybe H4 this time)
And yes, I'm playing Mass Effect 3 as we speak, since I got it and Street Fighter X Tekken early

I do agree AC2 is hard to best xD but AC3 looks so epic with the new dynamic environment, we'll see!
