He met the fire temple monks who he eventually became friends with, they taught him the basics of elemental chakra and through heavy meditation and reaching a state of spiritual zen he learnt to unlock his elemental chakra for a moment which he eventually came to master. Not knowing handseals he still could not use ninjutsu but he could channel the elemental chakra like he normally would with normal chakra [Samurai Sabre Skill]. Background Info
History: At 14, Masamune began his warrior campaign under his father after his father brought him up in kenjutsu. During one of his sparring sessions with another of the Date clansmen, his eye was poked out and since then he wore an eye-patch to cover the missing eye. Even though he had a missing eye that did not affect his performance with a sword in the war
After many wars and being able to analyze many difference sword styles, Masamune decided to carry six swords, three swords on each side of his waist angled evenly to resemble dragon wings and developed a fighting style to where he could use all six in battle.
since then he has learned many secrets and have made his way to shogun of the land of iron. Some days, whenever there is nothing to do, he will travel to Kumogakure where his childhood was spent to visit some old friends.
Other
Kenjutsu prowess: Being adept to kenjutsu and samurai techniques Masamune could unleash swift freeform kenjutsu giving the opponent little time to recover from the primary strike before continuing with another.
Iado specialty: The skills with Iado is almost unparalleled, being since that he have been able to make an adaptation of the Iado with all six of his blades, most men wouldnt be able to follow his movements of notice the Iado technique has been used before the strike has already been made.
