Today we celebrate a great leader and civil rights activist Arguably one of he most influential man in the American history who helped black people gain equality. How are you celebrating today? With you friends of other races? Music? Church? Share it all here.

There is no black america there is no white america there is only the United States of America!

I am grateful to the man for helping to set us negro free from the injustices of the cruel racist.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."

MLK understood what many people forget. He took much of his political ideology from MK Gandhi and spiritual ideology from the Bible. Gandhi took much of his beliefs from the Bhagavad Gita, Dhammapada, and even the Bible. There is some speculation that even Jesus of Nazareth took inspiration from Buddhist and Jain monks while visiting Asia during his teen years. The point is that there is a greater truth that exists outside of one man's beliefs. It is something that can be logically understood with intellect, but only truly conducted and felt through spiritual practice (whatever practice that may be).

Needless to say, this is a good day to reflect on your weaknesses and biases towards yourself and others. Wisdom comes from insight into your own nature, understanding your own motivations and actions. Suffering is caused in a large part because of our inability to see other's perspectives and reevaluate our own.
