He had his ability not his exact power. Nullification would require you to assume that BB has better haki, plus Yami Yami isn't that invincible. It literally leaves you open unlike other logia.

You're talking about leaving himself open as if he didn't have the Gura Gura to help that now. Also we don't know how the quake quake fruit really works, if the strength of the quakes is dependent on the strength of the user or even impacted by it at all. The WG was scared of him as soon as he had it.

It was regular foot soldiers that were scared decent fighters were never and top tiers like Sengoku were actual ready to foght him. Having quake quake fruit doesn't change his basic stats, it only gives him a DC boost.
