Just look at how Madara man handled the Shinobi Alliance alone with just basic combat skills.
That just shows us how experienced ninjas were back then.

Imagine if the Manga was based around Hashirama's time up to Hiruzen's time in his Youth and the Manga was called "Shinobi" instead of Naruto; would you like that better?

Well, it wouldn't be all that interesting. The series would start with Madara and Hashirama in their prime. Those two would solo the entire world. Then it's theirs battle. We already saw that one.

Totally. The era of peace made them fodders. I mean, did you see the difference b/w past and present, thanks to flashback, the past was so much gruesome, even till the 3rd great ninja war or till the moment naruto was born.
