Well, the authors of Naruto, One Piece, Death Note, and Code Geass to be specific.
They have come up with such ingenius ideas, characters' personalities and ideologies, and just some deep deep stuff. I believe that they should be celebrated and praised just like famous scientists and entrepreneurs.

If Hollywood made an accurate Death Note movie, then I believe that mainstream America would recognize the genius of these Japanese authors.

They have creative intelligence, sure, but so what? I've never heard of anyone discrediting them for their wit or lack thereof.

The Big Three all kinda steal off of other shows, One Piece probably being the lesser of the three. I have to agree that Tsugumi Ohba is quite the intelligent person. You know how L sits? Apparently that's how he sits when thinking of new manga ideas and such. He's that guy. I really don't see the reason to celebrate or praise them though. They have an artistic ability and are creative to an extent.

Outside of online forums like these I haven't seen anyone of any real importance to the community underrate mangakas creativity or intelligence. Not sure what you're gettin' at here.

actually one of the most underrated manga authors is Nobuhiro watsuki, the author behind rurouni kenshin. it is literally the base for most anime and manga out there. so much of it is because his work takes influence so much from real life and equally from fiction, from both east and west. hell, even a lot of the scenarios from naruto are modelled after kenshin. such as kenshin's quest to bring back Aoshi his rival back to his senses after becoming consumed by hatred, sounds similar to naruto and sasuke. even naruto and sasuke's personality are modeled after yahiko and sanosuke (thats for naruto) while saito's and Aoshi's personalities and mannerisms are very similar to sasuke's. and a whole lot more. but all of the mentioned above are also very talented as well

From what I know, Kishi's been inspired by mythology, DragonBall, Hunter x Hunter, and I guess Rurouni Kenshin. He's not very creative, outside of his idea of jutsu and such. Anyways, I could totally see Minato taking after Kenshin. He's fast, awesome, chilled, and has a one-shot jutsu (or at least used to be).
