As you can clearly read in the following panel, Shikaku wants shinobi who excel in taijutsu to fight Madara as "only physical attacks work".

Coincidentally in the same manga issue, we see, for the first time in a very long one, Neji Hyuuga and Rock Lee in the cover.

Who else that is currently in the Shinobi Allied Forces would fit best to do this job?

-Might Guy is out of the question as he is currently recuperating and exhausted.
-Naruto is shown heading towards Obito; and, if Shikaku wanted him, he would have told him.
-The Kages, if somehow alive thanks to Tsunade, would be in no condition to fight against the same person who almost killed them earlier in the Manga: all 5 of them.

Rock Lee could fit as Might Guy is already a major part of this battle and they share a similar fighting style.
Neji Hyuuga is part of this team, a genius, and has one of the best taijutsu skillset in the whole Narutoverse: the Jyuuken!

NOTE: We also see Sakura and Gaara in the cover. I believe Sakura could also take part in the taijutsu strategy but the main assets would be Lee and Neji. Gaara could come back [soon future] and help with the "5 minute jutsu" the alliance needs for Obito.

Good theory, but I know they aren't fodders, but that group of characters defeating the main and strongest villain so far on Naruto does not sit well with me :|

Hinata and Kiba could also put in an effort, although i agree with you, the two strongest seem to be Rock Lee and Neji Hyuuga. I have said in many previous posts, would be great to see Rock Lee in full action again, especially if he takes the bandages from his feet for his body flicker technique (his speed is awesome). that COMBINED with his drunken style technique and the opening of his inner gates, backed up by Neji and the Byakugan, we might be in for a chance of breaking Madaras defences, Gaara would obviously be there for the Sealing Jutsu. As for Sakura, well... now might be the best time for her to redeem herself with her strength and courage if she can bring it to the battle.

In all reality, one Juubi blast could wipe out 1/3 of the Shinobi Alliance. That and the fact that seeing as Obito is also connected to the Juubi, which has unlimited Chakra, he could also be spamming his moveset. and then the fact that each of Madaras Kage Bunshin are able to have their own Susanoo. of course the power is one sided....

however....

Rock Lee and his bottle of Saki for the win!! Loool
