In his novel the villain is a revolutionary who intends to liberate shinobi from the Daimyo and restore what it means to be a powerful ninja instead of working missions and oddjobs. Shikamaru says "sorry to steal your dream from you" and understands that he, the alliance and Naruto have to create a world so safe that there is no need for ninja.

De-militarisation, basically. This is also why he babysits Naruto into the Hokage seat, because he knows he's the one to do it.

So this is done on purpose?

Doesn't the future with Kawaki kind of indicate that this kind of backfires in a way?

They ignored her entirely in Naruto and now ruined her in Boruto.

I liked how Boruto roasted Sarada on her not doing anything for her friends when she was conflicted. It showcased a foreshadowing to their relationship. Boruto offering Sarada support where she needs it.

And then right after, Sarada decides to help her with TNJ. Then Namida decides to become a shinobi after all.

That was a great moment.

I think Boruto is going to be the one pulling the strings for Sarada who'd be more or less a puppet and one of Boruto's love interest imo.

That said she sure will be a better female MC than her mom.

OP: Once again Boruto is called a genius who still at the top of his class without even putting much of an effort. Can't wait when he takes his responsibilities seriously and begins training.

Hinata and Boruto's relationship was really cool.

I am glad they skipped Sarada's parent teacher meeting...:lol

It's too early to comment on Kawaki's motivation and how it ties into this, but yeah- Kakashi, Naruto & Shikamaru are trying to get rid of it slowly, just likely not in their generation. There's less demand for the ANBU and Konoha, trying to slowly phase them out, cut their budget for example- which actually did backfire.

What an episode that foreshadows the upcoming personality Boruto holds in the Movie:

* Anko and the other teachers refer to Boruto as the 'problematic' genius.

* Boruto passes all of his classes and barely pays attention in class, and I love this. It really creates a distinction between his father, who was unstudious in that department.

* Boruto stating he only attended the Academy to get under Naruto's skin LOL. Man he don't give a ****.


Okay so

1. Denki wants to become a ninja.
2. Iwabee wants to become a ninja like Naruto.
3. Metal Lee wants to become a ninja like Lee.
4. Inojin wanting to become a ninja so that he can draw, and make more money.
5. Shikadai wants to live up to his parents expectations, but he really wants to be a ninja anyway.
6. Sarada wants to be Hokage who is acknowledged by everyone
7. Sumire just wants to be a ninja too.
8. Some random kids don't want to be ninjas, but want to work with their families/other career opportunities.
8. Sigh Cho Cho....
9. Namida wanting to join regular school after the Academy, confirming there is a regular school.
10. Boruto joined the Academy so that he could do what his father did, surpass him, and prove to everyone that he was better than him. He's trying to create his own identity, but he doesn't understand or know how - yet.


* Boruto asking why Hinata became a ninja, and she talks about her past + Uncle Neji (**** my feels)

* Boruto and Hinata's relationship is awesome, but did anyone else notice that Naruto is coming home less and less now? Boruto even states this in the episode, "Dad didn't come home again.."

* An important aspect of today's episode was when Kakashi was telling Boruto about how shinobi life is becoming less in demand. I feel like this is especially more important with the information we know about technology in the ninja world.

* Orochimaru is helping Naruto, and more importantly, Sasuke and his mission. The vague hints dropping is making it clear to me that the film will be approaching us within the next few months or so.

Interesting. I hope they explore this more.

I wonder what will replace ninjas in terms of military control, if that's required anymore at this point. But at some point, I think the technology will play a part in regular citizens wanting to gain power without the need to actually work that hard for it like ninjas
