He is only trying to find out why Itachi went so far for Konoha, killed his own family to protect it, even in death he was proud of his Village and remained loyal to it. Why did Itachi do so much even though he knew that the Elders just used him and his loyalty.

He wants to know what exactly that Village is, that his own brother was willing to live through hell for it.

And who are the Shinobi that created these type of circumstances for people like Itachi.

I honestly don't think he's gonna be satisfied with the answer, or value the meaning behind it.

But he might understand, and see the higher purpose.

If he completely changes, then the burden Itachi left to Naruto would be meaningless, I think Sasuke will seek for a bigger goal when the talk is over, but it won't be a positive one, Naruto will have to change him in the end.

Furthermore, the final battle between them would be anticlimactic if he were to be converted now.
