A French man, Jean-Louis B. has been fined £8,500 by a court in Nice, Southern France for not having enough *** with his wife during their marriage. Ruling in a divorce suit filed by the wife two years ago, the judge fined the 51-year-old man under article 215 of France’s civil code, which states married couples must agree to a “shared communal life”. The woman claimed that the suit was necessitated by her husband’s inactivity in the bedroom.

The court subsequently granted the divorce and ruled the husband was solely responsible for the break-up.

The 47-year-old had dragged her husband to court demanding about 10,000 euros in compensation for “lack of *** over 21 years of marriage”.

The ex-husband claimed “tiredness and health problems” had prevented him from being more attentive to his wife’s sexual needs.

The judge who gave the ruling in the south of France’s highest court in Aix-en-Provence ruled that “a sexual relationship between husband and wife is the expression of affection they have for each other, and in this case it was absent. By getting married, couples agree to sharing their life and this clearly implies they will have *** with each other.”
