What's is your take on MLG and the main stage? I know some of you are familiar with it, some of you aren't, as a given you're all PS3/PS4 owners and play Naruto Storm and what not. I know some people on here play CoD and only like 1 guy I know plays Halo on here, or at least I think he does.

I've been into the competitive scene for quite some time. I haven't placed because I haven't been to any official tournaments, but I've placed in local LANs and online tournaments on Twitch.tv

I've been competitive with gaming since 2008. I always wanted to compete and attain professional status, but time and money restricts me. Although, since I am joining the USMC I might have a chance at doing so, but, again, Halo is dying competitively to 343 industries. They are killing the scene pretty quick.

What are your thoughts on competitive gaming in general? Is there a competitive scene for Naruto Storm, Naruto Ultimate Ninja etc...?

Yes. Some of the greatest moments in competitive Halo has been during H3 times, but nothing tops H2.

The fact that you're listing cod and halo shows that you're not really at the forefront of "mlg gaming".

Right now the BIGGEST ones (by sheer numbers) are mobas like league of legends. I actually hate league of legends though because at its core, its a casual game

Dota 2 is much more competitive, but the REALLY competitive games are countestrike, insurgency, and the big one....

STAR CRAFT. I don't play star craft because i'm not asian enough, but those are the REAL big e sports.

Dota 2 is my game of choice. Naruto ultimate ninja games are not competitive as they're not "deep" at all.

Really? You do realize that Halo revolutionized the MLG Main stage to what it is today? Or MLG in general. I'm not talking about the "biggest ones" because for one I don't compete on PC. I compete on Xbox and two, I'm a competitive player for Halo. Kill yourself, kid.

I don't even compete for CoD. It's a crappy game with no skill. That statement rustled my jimmies, not going to lie. That was pretty blunt and offensive statement there bud.

He's right though. He's just stating that the games you mentioned are nothing compared to what they used to be - which they aren't.
Asians pretty much run the Professional Gaming scene, and to pretty much anyone else it's just a hobby that very few people get into professionally.
So in the end it basically comes down to whatever games the Asians are really into (which includes games like StarCraft, LoL, etc..)

Games like Halo & CoD that started the MLG scene are dieing franchises. They've reached their limits (in terms of professional gaming), and are moving over to your less-serious competitions on things such as Twitch.

& I seriously doubt games like Naruto Storm would ever become big in a scene like MLG. If they were going to, they would already have a decent name for themselves. Games like Naruto take no skill whatsoever, so MLG really isn't the scene for it. It's not in the same league of other fighting games such as Mortal Kombat, which actually takes some skill to be good at it.

Didn't mean to offend your competitive-halo'ing. Was just stating the obvious.

I play all the games you listed but never gone pro cause just don't got the time I use to have when I was younger. The comprise world really does it after H3 but it was as big it was I mean.

And now if I had time.... I don't think I would.

True. Halo is dead. It's not longer what it use to be, but as me and many others are still trying to keep it alive. I stream almost everyday on Twitch getting an average of 400-500 viewers a day, but that's a little vague because LoL, DOTA 2, StarCraft is a different league. It's a strategic based game as compared to FPS which runs competitively and popularly in it's own way.

CoD isn't any different. DOTA winnings and LoL as well have been in the prize pool of 1 million, CoD has as well, and in fact recently there was just a 1 million dollar prize pool.

I agree Halo is dying, but CoD isn't. I don't know what you're talking about. Some of the most famous and known pro's are from CoD, aka Nadeshot. That much I know for a game I don't even play nor compete in, and as a pro you never reach your limit. Some of our pros from halo are moved to CoD. Prime examples being Formal who is both a successful Halo pro and now a CoD pro, or Flamesword, although he is just a coach for OpTic.

MLG is the biggest so far, but Halo still goes around on PGL, EGL and AGL. AGL probably being the closest to being the biggest leagues around, and you still have EU leagues such as EGL, for example.

I'm not going to be an ass, but your logic on this topic isn't as accurate and it seems one-sided, when it's not. Like I said, Halo and CoD are FPS, they are in a different competitive scene than the PC.

I don't see why people claim most of the well known COD players to be pros in it.
A game that's give a player training wheels (Scorestreaks) to kill other players easier and have small maps to take advantage of the spawns don't really take a lot of "skills".

That's just my opinion though.

Seems one-sided towards what exactly?

I play all games. I have an xbox, playstation and a badass PC, and enjoy all the games on them. I'm not being biased towards any game/console. So have no idea what youre talking about.
If you want biased opinions, you just need to look at your own posts. You made the thread about MLG - so of course youre going to stick up for it.
Infact I'm the one taking the neutral standpoint from someone who enjoys all types of videogames/consoles and just follows what's going on in the professional gaming scene.

The 2 games I mentioned are nothing compared to what they used to be, and are nowhere near as popular as they were around the time of Modern Warfare 2/3 and Halo 2/3 (aka. dieing out).

Not to be rude or anything, but what I said in my first post was correct. So if you cant take criticism don't post it on a forums for people to comment on. Simple.

I've always been into competitive gaming. Had times with both COD and Halo. Halo 3 was the peak of MLG for me. Final Boss wasn't dominant right away like they were in Halo 2 (but towards the end of the H3 era they won the last 4 tournaments and took over), Instinct was good, Triggers Down had their time at the top and Str8 Rippin was probably the most fun to watch when Snipedown got a sniper. COD isn't as fun to watch for me because I don't really like watching twitch based shooters. I had 50's in every Ranked playlist back in like 08 and I even had a chance to go to an MLG event with an up and coming team (one of those teams that qualifies and goes in as underdogs in the qualifying stages), but I was only 12 and my parents didn't let me...

No, no I agree with you but what I mean by one-sided is you're saying the PC scene has taken over MLG when that is entirely not true. I can take criticism, but I can't take false criticism. Let's not make ludicrous posts here.

First of all, it's not spelled "dieing" it's spelled dying. My grammar isn't any better, but if you're going to criticize me please at least spell right. Anyway, I agree Halo is dying, but not CoD. You get an average of 10k-15k viewers on twitch for CoD. The most viewers for any game on twitch is LoL or DOTA 2 with a good whopping 20k-30k viewers. CoD is still popular even though it's an extremely milked game. Big tournaments still happen with CoD.

You're actually being completely biased. This thread is talking about MLG and what's your take on it. Then I get two jerks coming in here telling me I'm not the "forefront" of MLG when I'm talking about Halo or CoD. That's the only scene I compete in. I'm not saying which is better, which is more competitive, I'm just talking about MLG.

LMAO. I'm not going to argue about this. CoD isn't dying as I can see it's still on the Pro Circuit. Halo isn't on the circuit anymore and that is what us, the Halo community is trying to strive for, is to get back on the circuit. Your facts are only true about Halo dying. Everything else is incorrect, sure, LoL or DOTA 2 are at the forefront, but, again they are there own scene...

Yeah, I know, man.

Keeping up with the GOAT of Halo was OGRE 2 and I watched him all the time. He tore up the main stage on H1, H2 and H3, but the pro that made me interested the most was Ola or AKA (iGotUrPistola). A very prominent player. I remember getting my first 50 in LW's (personally the hardest playlist for me) I had achieved a 50 in Ranked living dead which was hard because the playlist was only around for a certain amount of time. The playlist that was the most fun for getting a 50 in was MLG. I miss ranks. It's the only thing that distinguished players apart from another.

MLG was by far the most fun. I remember sweating over some Narrows CTF games or Pit TS. It was so much fun. Especially when you had a team you could communicate to. The comebacks were legendary ;-;

I think Pro-Gaming scenes are influencing designers to focus on lazy multiplayer focused games. Games are becoming more standardized and have less content (which also may be attributed to dlc marketing to an extent), but marketing and pro gaming scenes allow them to skyrocket to popularity.

With that said, I enjoy watching pro games time to time, I simply fear for a future of gaming where CoD and League of Legends are the most popular. Personal opinion, if you like games like that then that's fine.

Pit CTF and TS is by far my favorite. I also like Oddball and TS on Guardian.
