Major Jiraiya Plot-Hole

[Punk Hazard]

As we all know, Jiraiya came close to defeating Pein with Ma and Pa's Genjutsu.

But there's something that bothers me: The Genjutsu is sound-based where anywhere who hears it is caught in it and paralyzed. However, Jiraiya wasn't caught. Ma and Pa was right next to him, not two inches away from his ears and screaming out the Genjutsu loudly. Shouldn't he have heard it as well, thus getting him caught in the Genjutsu?

Well, I believe since he was connected to him, it wouldn't really affect him. When Jiraiya fuses with Ma and Pa, I think their relationship is comparable to a perfect jinchuuriki.

nah im pretty sure they have control over it just how genjutsu with eyes they can control who they put under their genjutsu and not just the general area that they are looking in or area that the sound waves are going in this case.

do you see the sound waves going into pains ears? thats how the justu works...i see what your saying but i think since the move came from the frogs and the sound waves came from them,they and j man didnt get affected

Cuz they didn´t want to put jiraiya under the genjutsu and thus it didn´t happen but they would use it to affect jiraiya if he was an enemy.

probly works the oposite way to a directional microphone. i do sound engineering and we have some top range speakers that fire sound in a very focused spread. probly the same for them. if ure directing the sound forward it wil only effect wats in front

This ^^ . The constant replacement of nature chakra should be enough to disrupt the genjutsu, or Ma and Pa would be able to break him out of it, or when they fuse they are operating as a combined entity so the genjutsu is coming from Jiraiya. Take your pick.
