And Obito is much stronger than him, but Obito didnt want to fight Itachi because he was very skillful yes.
He could've killed hebi Sasuke yes, but EMS Sasuke would wreck Itachi.

Madara- black zetsu who is madara's will with his knowledge admitted that itachi is invincible meaning all the jutsus that madara knows are ineffective against itachi

black zetsu also said he thought nagato was unbeatable.
also black zetsu was only recounting legends about the mirror and sword. he didnt know for sure thats how they work or any limitations they might have.
please dont overrate how miuch of madara there is in zetsu. madara even refers to him as a separate entity.
one good jutsu that bypasses durability and itachis dead, such as the reaper seal. so zetsu is just lying ot himself.

Obito- followed itachi's order not to attack konoha and even admitted to sasuke that he would be dead if he fought itachi and itachi figured his jutsu

obito didnt give a shit about konoha. he didnt immediately attack it after itachi died. all he concenred himself with was getting the remaining bijuus. nagato would have left konoha alone and took naruto with him had naruto been in the village.
yes obito said hes dead if itachi knows everything. BUT HE DIDNT KNOW EVERYTHING. so itachi cannot defeat him.
