Anobody here listen to Denzel Curry?

Penitentiary chances, the devil dances
And eventually answers to the call of Autumn
All of them fallin’ for the love of ballin’
Got caught with 30 rocks, the cop look like Alec Baldwin
Inter century anthems based off inner city tantrums
Based off the way we was branded
Face it, Jerome get more time than Brandon
And at the airport they check all through my bag
And tell me that it’s random
But we stay winning, this week has been a bad massage
I need a happy ending and a new beginning
And a new fitted, and some job opportunities that's lucrative
This the real world, homie, school finished
They done stole your dreams, you dunno who did it
I treat the cash the way the government treats AIDS
I won’t be satisfied til all my *****s get it, get it?
Gorgeous is that track!
Ahhhh 2010
Kanye's a monster.

It seems we living the American dream

But the people highest up got the lowest self-esteem

The prettiest people do the ugliest things

For the road to riches and diamond rings

We shine because they hate us, floss cause they degrade us

We trying to buy back our 40 acres

And for that paper, look how low we a stoop

Even if you in a Benz, you still a ***** in a coupe

:coffee:
Lol well yeah if he rapped like this more often I'd be more inclined to listen to it. But you said how straight forward K-Rino's lyrics were, yet I'm not seeing the amazingness of these lyrics.

Damian Lillard is better

I heard this before actually thought it was pretty badass. I wouldn't say better (my opinion), but he's definitely got talent.

I used to be in love with Eminem's music. Not so much anymore. I think J.Cole is a great mainstream rapper.
Yeah same here. And I heard some of his songs, not enough to really place a hard opinion though.

I'm not talking about Eminem I'm talking about J. Cole
Oh , well still .

So now we in the hotel, mirrors on the ceiling
She say she wanna blow Ls, I hear her and I'm willin'
But every time I smoke, well, a ***** mind gone
So that every word I spoke, well, I'm tryin to put her on
But she couldn't hear me
I told her all about how we been living a lie
And that they love to see us all go to prison or die
Like "baby, look at how they show us on the TV screen"
But all she ever want me to do is unzip her jeans
Then all I really want is for her to get on top
Before you know it, she workin', jerkin' it nonstop
And all that next shit I was previously talkin'
Is now that wet shit that I'm currently lost in
And while that sweat drip, I am reminded
All the times my brother told me that ***** is blindin'
I'm findin', the more I grow, the more y'all seem to stay the same
Don't even know the rules but yet y'all tryin' to play the game
And ain't it shameful, how *****s blame hoes for givin' birth
To a baby that took two to make; coward ***** you a fake
How you gonna look in your son's face and turn your back
Then go start another family, dawg, what type of shit is that?
She said it's okay, rub my head and told me to relax
Laid a ***** down proper, like she was recording tracks
Said "I know you wanna change the world but for the night please
Just reach over and hit the lights please"

I realized how wack it was when he was rapping from a females perspective and trying to mimic out her voice. I'm not as mad at the lyrics but it just lives up to the Drake era light skinned softness rap that I just can't get down with. Only real ***** from that era is Kid Cudi imo

Old Wayne had bars tho, don't forget at one point he was the best in the game.
I would never say he became best in the game but he did have hunger for the throne at one point. It reached the most highest point at Carter 2 but he declined into the mainstream after the formation of Young Money took over his need for the throne.

Yea its not for everyone .

Heaven or hell, you choose
Freedom or jail, you lose
I can't stop, I'm as hot as the devils shoes
Overcame a low life status to blow like Gladys
Ahead of my time like I live my whole life backwards
I'm nothing like these ho-like rappers
My whole life practice to be the one
What's it like to be Lebron
They calling you the saviour, so much pressure but you deal with it
The weight of the world on your shoulders but you still lift it
Ill with it for real, lil ***** from Ville that real *****s can feel
Nobody taught us how to cook still *****s a grill
No Foreman, try not to call them ladies bees but them hoes swarmin
Now honey, Aye is it destiny or is it money your feelin
Heard rumors of a deal and now you thinkin a million
Pardon my paranoid mind but I'm starin in the mirror livin in fear that things a never be the same
No one left for me to blame but myself cause I asked for this
Headed for fame but in my brain, hey can I last in this?
Aye five years I'll probably laugh at this
Try not to let it wear me out like a bad ***** with fashion sense
I keep it fresh while these wack *****s rehash and shit
Jackin styles you know, ski mask and shit
I pass these *****s, they trynna do it how these other *****s did it
I'm tryna live it how no other ***** ever lived it

Kid Cudi put out some classics too .

If you want to hear this type of Kanye more listen to his old stuff.
He still has his moments in features but he has been taking a different approach which many don't like.
Best album is obviously my beautiful dark twisted fantasy.

I want you to look at what I bolded above. This entire verse could have been a lil wayne track. Metaphors after Metaphors of nothingness. I'm sorry but this kind of rap doesn't seem like it belongs on a track with one of the greats such as Nas or Jay Z

I have before, but then eventually transitioned to his modern day stuff and just wasn't feeling it. So kinda just stopped listening to him; past and present. Hmm haven't listened to much of that one though.

I think this song has some of his best verses in his career: 2:40 to the end.

Death to the impostors, label me the king
My dreams could win Oscars, my *****s turned mobsters
My white friends doctors, fatherless child
Listen how I got this knowledge is wild
Streets taught me, speak softly ***** watch from the crowd
Cause any ***** that's loud, just want attention and eventually blaow
No fake *****s allowed in my circle dawg
You been through half the shit I been through it'll hurt ya dawg
Tread softly, my ***** moving state to state running late watch 'em
Tryna avoid state troopers, that's the weight watchers
Run this dope set this cake till they say "Gotcha"
Or till the fat lady sings, and *****s hate operas
And Oprah hate *****s
Make no mistake that we know the stake still, we hope to make over eight figures
Slim chances, but *****s bet against the odds and who am I to criticize how you play your cards dawg

Bold is only Metaphor .

The weight of the world on your shoulders but you still lift it

Not a Metaphor .

Try not to let it wear me out like a bad ***** with fashion sense

Double meaning, she wears out clothes as in they get old and overplayed, because in another sense, she is bad, as in not good.

Nobody taught us how to cook still *****s a grill
No Foreman, try not to call them ladies bees but them hoes swarmin
Now honey,

Heard rumors of a deal and now you thinkin a million

Bold is only Metaphor .

Jackin styles you know, ski mask and shit

Ski Mask , Steve Nash , As in he Passes the competition maybe .

real g's move in silence like lasagna"-6 foot 7 foot
"penis through an elephant"- 6 foot 7 foot
"Jumped on the celly, called Makaveli/He say he was gravy, I say I was jelly"- abortion
“I’m a diamond in the rough like a baby in the trash"-megaman
“***** good as baby powder…”-it's good
" you hot as an igloo
hello World, I'm with a yellow girl, number 2 pencil
I'm top dog, you top ramen, I'm top dog"-strange clouds

The above are all considered metaphors imo. Here are reviews for what others like to call classic for some reason. It's a breakdown of every song on both Sideline Story and Born Sinner.

Get ya weight up…fake ni**as get sprayed up /My verbal AK slay f**gots../ n Ion mean no disrespect when I say f**got…ok f**got? /Dont be so sensitive..if you wanna get ****ed in the ass / Thats between you n whoever **** it is / Pause…maybe that line was too far / Jus a little joke to show you how homophobic you are

I ain't mad at it. But his bad far outweighs his meager amount of good content he has.

Never liked sideline story . I don't consider either of those a breakdown . More like ham fisted attempts to roast J.Cole .

"There will soon come a day when people in general, and rap artists specifically, are going to have to answer for their past usage of the word ‘******,’ much like the Grandfathers who are ashamed that they used the word ‘******’ as kids. At a time when public acceptance of gay rights is soaring (rightfully), hip-hop culture and general are still battling with homophobia (not excluding myself). Rather than run from it I chose to attack it playfully. Those lyrics are meant to make everyone uncomfortable for the sake of this very conversation."

Lol @ how do they compete

By actually making good music? You do realize it's music at the end of the day right? Just being able to spit means nothing in hip hop music if that's pretty much all you can do, everyone can rap these days. Not everyone has substance and not everyone can make quality music or master the artistry...

You're calling out people who mastered it and have a body of work that goes beyond just penning shit down to showout with. It would be different if actually making music wasn't involved but..yeah..this is kind of a primarily music based culture...in case you didn't notice.

Meanwhile...there's dope rappers in the underground that actually have incredible music making skills that need more of a spotlight...

But everyone who's got next is just following the current formula...

You don't need a smash hit to be something in hip hop anymore anyways....the qualifications for "mainstream" have changed a lot since the internet became a medium for this shit.
