I just finished re-watching the whole series and i was wondering is vol 8 a filler volume? Like it doesn't affect the story if you don't read it and skip to vol 9?

I heard that in a facebook page so i dunno if that's true or not.

Vol 1 - 7 = Anime 26 episodes.

Mahouka doesn't have any filler volumes. Vol 5 is the closest to being one however it still contains content that involves the main plot. The anime covered volumes 1,2,3,4,6,and 7 (they skipped 5). Volume 8 is very important, because it actually gives you some of the history and background for Tatsuya and Miyuki.

Yes they go visit their aunt. As they are waiting to speak to her. They both go through flashbacks from their past(mostly Miyuki).

I'll plan to read vol 8 - 13.

While i wait for Vol 14-15 to be translated i can read from vol 1 to 13 once again and gain more acknowledge of mahouka's verse.

Now trying to decide which sig i should use.

I would recommend starting from vol 1 just because of how much more depth and details the LN provides to the story, magic, and characters, but of course its your choice.

Volume 14 is very close to being finished. I don't know the situation for volume 15, but I heard some people have started translating it from the wiki.

I'll read them after i'm done reading from vol 8 to 13... That's what i did with the light novels of high school dxd and i found it pleasant that way.

Anyways, i'ma start reading vol 8 after i'm done eating, i hope it's good... i hope they don't nerf onii-sama.

Sounds like a plan and don't worry he doesn't get nerfed, he just fights more challenging opponents. Though by vol 16, he'll have created a new magic that will only make him even more OP Lol.

I hope so, it was implied in an episode that Tatsuya could take on his aunt all by himself but that doesn't mean that the yotsuba won't get more leaders so he's going to stay idle, i wonder what's going to happen in vol 8 - 16.

I can't even think of a magic that would make him more OP than he already is, i mean he has regrowth, flash cast, gram and decomposition... Lol

There are a few counters for his decomposition spell Mist Dispersion that you will find out about, however with this new Magic Tatsuya is creating, he'll able to render those counters ineffective.
