I read the weekly manga and It's a great series.
I think the anime had great potential to be like Naruto, One Piece, etc... but they screwed it up with skipping some events/chapters and changing some events greatly. It's fairly good though.

The Magi manga is quite generic. It isn't too different from other mangas based on magic.
