This is a great theory. Those are chakra receivers, there's a possibility that Madara may have been sending his chakra to him, and putting him under some sort of Genjutsu, or somehow influencing his mind. I'm gonna give you some positive rep, and a thumbs up dude. There also could be a possibility that Madara still has some planted in Obito where we can't see them, and he was just waiting for Obito to revive him, to influence him more. Last chapter Obito didn't want to use the Juubi, he just wanted to go through with the Genjutsu, but this chapter he wants to.

That's very good, I also found these rods very weird, but Obito's rampage kinda overshadowed all of it and I didn't think about it properly.
Although this chapter with Obito suddenly changing his mind on wasting time watching Juubi blow shit up seemed kinda weird to me and made your theory more believable. reps!

I think Madara was influencing Obito .... Not only obito.. nagato is most likely influenced too..

This gave me a lot of hope for the manga when I noticed it, after all the complaint threads on Obito's reasoning for becoming evil I was starting to get worried.

If maybe Madara had enough control to make Obito see visions of Rin's death before it happened it means that Madara planned it to force Obito to his side or simply brainwash poor obito

And also worth mentioning the nagato transformation, the black stuff or the so called will of madara definitely played a role ...

nice thread. From what i can see and what i know, nagato was pierced with the black rods through the mazou correct? and we all know that the mazou once sat atop the flower spire in madara's lair, which was created by hashi cells. this is where a rod was left by madara for obito to use to revive him at some point in time. so you are correct. now my assumption is that these rods were created through madara manipulation natural energy from the mazou, imbuing it with his own evil intentions(will power), and hashi's senju dna. they are damn near indestructible, which could be attributed to hashi's cells. the natural energy from the mazou could make them the perfect chakra recievers, which would work out since the mazou is made of natural energy and could sense villages and the ASF HQ far beyond the battlefield. lastly, black zetsu consists of madara's will and dna. since white zetsu consist of hashi dna, it could also have his will as well. but anyway, if he(madara) is capable of throwing his will power into anything he touches, i have no doubt that obito has it as well.

And don't forget that when Nagato had the rods implanted into his body, he went mad and started screaming and yelling like Obito was, maybe there is a connection?
