Why does this story feel like something I've played in a video game before? And yes, I agree. Obito's goal was the moon but Madara's plan to eat the fruit is way more plausible.

Madara's main attraction is power, so a "peaceful" genjutsu like "the moon eye plan" is not ideal for Madara.

Seems plausible to me. I'd rather this happen than finding out that Madara has been manipulated by the Juubi all along.

Exactly what I thought! At first his story told by Hashirama made me question him, but no way does he want peace and happiness and love. He's power thirsty!

Obito was never a bad guy when he was with Minato's team, so wanting peace and to be with the one he loved would definitely fit his character.

Madara wasn't a bad gyu way back when he grew up with Hashirama. Hashi mentioned that again recently.

He isn't some power hungry cliche villain, he is longing for peace because of how he grew up in a time of constant battles and deaths.

That's why I was conflicted, however his story was told by Hashirama, so we might be seeing a Madara that's a bit different from how he saw him.

I don't even think Madara wants a Peaceful Genjutsu. He could do something like what Itachi Did to Kakashi and pretty much get out into hell through a Genjutsu. That would make Madara's Character more Evil and Menacing.
