His soul was always encased in a body even after being revived by edo tensei. Edo tensei brings the soul back, and encases it in a sacrificial body, which is the reason why there is a need for a human sacrifice for edo tensei.

The real issue here is that it is not his body, but a body of the person sacrificed to revive him.

Through Rinne Tensei, his actual body could be revived.

He is still immortal so I guess he is still edo. just not bound by kabuto seal.

Not exactly. His soul was returned to his body under a summoning contract (Edo Tensei), the only thing that changed is he is now is own controller. Rinne of Rebirth is the only jutsu that restores you to life, which explains Madara's dissent at being revived through Edo Tensei.

Technically, he is still an undead, or simply putting it, he is still an Edo.

When Itachi released Edo tensei, Madara simply did the seals to seal him back to being an Edo before being completely released. So he is still an Edo.

He is not completely revived. As an Edo, that is not his real body, but the body of the person sacrificed to revive him. It is simply his soul with all his abilities, but not his body.
Here we can see clearly a sacrificed body being used as a vessel of the soul of the one being revived:

Surely, as an Edo, everything works down there better than ever. No circulation problems, no disorders, and unlimited load.

EDIT: Wait, he has no load. Edo tensei's don't have that, since they also don't have blood. But they have unlimited stamina so that would be good enough.

But wait, blood rushing through the veins down there is the reason why "it" stands on it's own merit and edo tenseis' apparently, have no blood and are only made of paper.
